...didn't you get enough attention as a kid?

I mostly grew up in foster homes; thanks for your interest.

Absolutely!  I am the first to admit that I have no tolerance for ignorance.

All of this raises some interesting questions, however.  I thought Republicans were all about not interfering with business and letting capitalism and the free-market do it's work.  How is this type of interference consistent with that policy?

I guess we'll never get an answer to this...typical.

This is for Henry: It has become apparent that Donald Trump doesn't have a clue about how the government works, so somebody apparently suggested, or he decided all on his own, to approach his new job as POTUS like the military. What he apparently does not realize is that is that, in  the military, teams of writers/analysts do all the work, each according to rank and then pass it up to the next in line until it gets to the boss, either a high level former or current military officer.

The point I'm trying to make is that really important stuff goes through many hands before it gets to the big boss to approve and sign. The thing that scares me and  (I hope) a lot of people, is whether or not Donald Trump realizes that being an expert at making money and building huge buildings does not qualify him to be POTUS. We -- and he -- had better hope (pray) that he is recruiting the right experts.   :spooked:

Exactly why do you think Trump has no idea how government works is it just because the media is telling you that?

No. From personal experience. In 1986 I went to work for the Department of Defense in the Pentagon. Top Secret clearance prerequisite. In an office of civilian and military analysts, the boss a former  Navy Commander. I typed analysts' papers until I got a feel for what kind of office I was in, then moved to proofreader. The office did basically investigative work, culled information from a variety of sources, verified or not, then passed it to the boss, who approved or sent it back for changes. Then he passed it up to his boss, who was a General.

Anyway, that's where I learned about how the government works. As well as a few other things.

Libby,
Do you actually think he doesn't have qualified advisors to guide him?  First of all, he has Mike Pence, who has spent 12 plus years in Washington as a Congressman.  He has chaired and served on several committees.
He has Reince Priebus, who is his Chief of Staff, and was the head of the GOP.
Newt Gingrich is a close advisor and friend, who was as you know the former SOH.

He has some incredible people around him...

I think he understand PERFECTLY, the task at hand, and has been successful by getting good people around him.  He is a decision maker and a negotiator.....

To be quite honest, I think he is HANDS down WAY more qualified than Obama was.  Obama was not even a 2 full term senator when he took on the task.  Obama was a lawyer.

I really think it is comical on how everyone has this notion that Trump is an idiot.......he clearly isn't.  I understand why liberals don't like him, but it seems like everyone who has come to Trump Towers to meet with him come away with a new opinion of him and are impressed.

Bill Gates is now comparing him to JFK...after a brief time discussing things.

He has had meeting with all sorts of folks seeking input and strategies........I have never, ever seen any president elect do the things he has already done.

He is eager and is working hard.  I think, if you give him a chance, you will see some very good things happen to ALL Americans.

But, do we really want a POTUS who is learning on the job, from scratch? Not only that, he is also the kind of person who speaks, acts, and reacts extemporaneously. How do those generals and others plan to keep track of him, keep up with him, every hour of every day?

Oh how they who are quick to relate anecdotal stories as hard evidence, are even quicker to cast aside the real life experiences and learnings of those who have direct involvement that provides insight.

I'm a Christian and a Democrat. Trump is the biggest joke that ever entered politics. Just shows the power of money. The pharmaceutical companies and Trump have much in common as they only care about $. One of my needed prescriptions for a month is now $530, which I can no longer receive. Let's see where that goes with the new administration.
Am just catching up! Welcome, Cottontail.
