 Figured I might stump yah with that one. But it is a direct result of growing up in Chicago!

Pierogies are a staple of the polish culture, at least for the polish families in the neighborhood I grew up in. Basically, they are pasta stuffed with whipped potatoes, cheese, meat, fruits, and other things depending upon what you want, and then the raw pasta is crimped shut to enclose the stuffing. They can be deep fried, baked, fried in a skillet in butter or oil. Often they are accompanied by sweet cabbage or sliced summer sausage, or covered with syrup (depending upon the stuffing type), or a creamy sauce.

You can buy them at Meijer in the frozen section, and while those are good, they do not hold a candle to those prepared by the mothers of my friends back in the old neighborhood!

YUMMY! Today was the first time my wife ever had them or had even heard of them! And she liked it!  ("You and your weird foods", she said). . .

A staple around here.

Oh-Em-Gee! I drank three piping hot cups of coffee this morning and considered a third.  I had an egg poached hard and turkey bacon on a multi-grain english muffin, but I wish now that I had gone for the toasted muffin w/strawberry preserves.

Yeah.

Getting taxes ready for the CPA.

I'm into my third Basil Hayden, because I'm not a fan of getting all the damn paperwork together.

Rant over. Nothing to see here now.

Used the drippings from the Christmas ham which I had cut up small chunks of ham into and froze and made some ham gravy, biscuits, fried 'taters, and spinach.
