Oh, that sounds so good.  I haven't had deer in years.  My daughter and SIL used to go hunting every year when they lived in SD and would get a deer each and take them home and dress them out and freeze them and would bring some home with them when they came for a visit.  He always took part of the meat and had summer sausage made from it and man that was good.  They also tanned the hides.

Many years ago I taught him how to hunt deer.

I don't hunt deer any more; switched to upland game birds because of the challenge.

He brings in the deer now -- cast your bread upon the waters, eh?

Yep, that huntin' and fishin' sure does help stretch the food budget when you've got a large family.

  A thick ribeye steak, medium rare.  Baked potato with sour cream and butter.  Caesar salad and a large glass of sweetened tea with lemon.  Followed with a cup of hot black coffee.  At the Texas Road House in Anderson.

Grilled cheeseburger w/spinach, tomato, grilled onions, sweet peppers and mushrooms on a whole wheat bun and I washed it down w/a glass of sweet tea.
