For some reason, I thought Letterman's mom died a few years back. 

My favorite memories of her are from when she reported for the Late Show from the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.  He made her a rock star!  :biggrin:

Emma Morano has been :reap: HARVESTED :reap: at age 117. 

Who was she?  Well, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, she was the oldest human alive, but perhaps more interestingly, she was the last person to die who was born in the 1800s.  That means that every person alive on the planet today was born in 1900 or later.

I was really saddened to hear this.  Chris Berman is a really good guy and one of my all time favorite sportscasters.  He's in his best when he does the, "Back, back, back, back, back........" during the Home Run Derby every year.  :biggrin:

Same here........he was always able to make a boring game - FUN!  He kept you interested.  He made me stay up to watch the "half-time highlights" on MNF, even when it was a crappy game.

This is from a memo Ailes wrote back in the 1970's titled, "A Plan for Putting the GOP on TV News."

"Today television news is watched more often than people read newspapers, than people listen to the radio, than people read or gather any other form of communication," the memo read. "The reason: People are lazy. With television you just sit -- watch -- listen. The thinking is done for you."


Notice that dangerous last line?  Unfortunately, that's exactly what's happened with Fux News.  They have an audience of dull-witted simpletons who feed on the constant stream of propaganda coming out of that channel, all of which lack necessary discernment before going to the voting booth.  :mad:
