Try a Douglas fir. I've had very good luck with them.

It was a rather large tree, and I was ready for my living room to get back to normal.....
When we were using real trees we used to cut about an inch off the bottom and put 3 asprin in the holder and that kept it from losing needles as bad.  We always tried to find angel pines too which helped.

I stopped killing trees and instead chose to kill the environment with artificial trees.  :grinch:

We still try to scare away demons   :biggrin: by bringing greenery into the house at this time of the year.

And, yes, we are careful about the use of holly and mistletoe.  :yes:

We've got cacti up the wazoo in our house. We even named them: Bullwinkle, Holmes, etc. . . .

Maybe I'll try to post a picture or two of them. Bullwinkle is about 5'3" tall! We got Holmes about 4 years ago when he was about 4 inches, he is now just under 3 feet tall.

Up until this year we've used the living trees. Even after we moved into an apt we'd get a living tree and just take it back. This year we went to the Christmas tree farm of a friend and now I'm feeling guilty for killing a tree :(
