I didn't really know his party affiliation, just that he's been exposed to politics for years, it would make sense it would rub off.  Especially after so many have went from acting celebrity to political celebrity and vice versa.
Looks like I've come full circle.

Actually, his wife wanted to separate herself completely from politics. When there were rumors that he he wanted to run, originally, there were also rumors that she was unhappy and really tried to talk him out of it. She ended up supporting her husband. That's not to say that he wasn't exposed to it, but whatever the reason, I think he made a good choice.

She's not a political figure. You can report it w/out being involved in it. She recently retired from journalism altogether because she doesn't approve of the way the media is going. She had taken a leave of absence to be first lady, but has decided that the ethics of  broadcast news and the exploitation of events the Anna Nicole fiasco being her example are not what she originally committed to.
