On Friday we all get to experience a blue moon, which happens once every three years.  At the same time, the Delta Aquarid meteor shower occurs.  I've read that it will be hard to see it because of the blue moon, but it will last into August, overlapping the Persieds meteor shower on August 11 and 12.  Hope you're a night owl-best viewing time is around 2 am!

I'm a night owl.  Might be up at 2 am to go and check that out.  ;D

The asshat that killed Cecil the lion deserves everything that's being thrown at him.

Another thing we agree on.  I am ALL in favor of controlled hunting, here in North America.  I think when it is done, according to Conservation Laws....it makes for a healthy wildlife environment.  I don't know what it is like in Africa, and I don't understand, how and why someone would want to kill a Lion.  This guy did it strictly for his own ego.  He didn't eat the meat.  He merely wanted a "trophy".  He may not have MEANT to cause the problems he did, but I think his own ego is why he is in this situation.  So as the saying goes, what go around, comes around.

Anyone following the case of the two boys missing at sea since last Friday?

Yeah, it isn't looking too good for them is it?

They're shark bait.

The parents better be ready for the possibility that they'll never be found.

I heard one of them said to his mom on the way out the door, "you feed the dog; I'll feed the fish!"   :icon_twisted:

She said, "aren't you going to shower before you leave?"  To which he responded, "no, I'll just wash up on the beach."   :icon_twisted:

There is no valid reason to ever kill a lion or any other threatened species that isn't presenting an immediate danger to people.  It's laughable for these clowns to suggest that they are somehow helping conservation efforts when it has been shown that very little if any of the money spent on these "hunts" ever reaches the people who would use it for those purposes.  Moreover, trophy hunters typically want to kill the biggest, strongest, most impressive members of any given species, the very animals that nature intends to procreate.  By doing so, they afford the opportunity to reproduce to weaker members of their respective groups.  In what world is that beneficial to preservation?

They won't be.  It's been too long.  The parents better be prepared for that eventuality.  Somehow, I don't think they are.

My heart goes out to them. NO parent should ever have to bury their children. Ever.

However I strongly suspect this is indeed the case, and sadly they will be denied even that. . .

The sea is a hungry dog,
Giant and grey.
He rolls on the beach all day.
With his clashing teeth and shaggy jaws
Hour upon hour he gnaws
The rumbling, tumbling stones,
And 'Bones, bones, bones, bones! '
The giant sea-dog moans,
Licking his greasy paws. . .

Nope, I don't think they are prepared! They are holding out hope.
