Game 7 of the western conference finals between the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks this Saturday in Anaheim.

Hockey runs deep in my family. To the bone in fact.

Last night game 6 was played and as I was tuning in to the game last night, (Hawks won 5-2), I received a text from my sister living in suburban Chicago. It was a picture with no words. . .



Yeah. She and her husband were at last nights game!

SO we traded back pictures during the game; she sent shots from her perspective and I dents shots of my television screen.  :biggrin:

I spent my whole life watching the Hawks on television as a kid, then at Chicago Stadium and eventually the United Center. In that whole time, (Around 4 decades) they never came close to winning a Stanley Cup. Then I moved to central Indiana and they have won 3 in that time. And been in contention for several more years.

I had the great pleasure of attending 2 playoff games in old Chicago Stadium, and 1 in the United Center during those 4 decades. They lost in the first round each time; but the thirst of the fans was clearly apparent to all.

I held season tickets in the balcony of Chicago Stadium for a number of years. And when we moved to the United Center my new seats were 2nd row from the glass at one of the corners on the goal end. It was a VERY sad day when I gave them up and moved here.  :'(

I used to compare them to the Cubs, often referring to them as the Cubs on Ice during conversations with my friends; but I will bleed black and red until I am cold and dead. Hawks for life!  :yes:

I grew up in central Indiana with NO NHL, MLB, NBA or NFL teams to root for.  We had the Pacers who was ABA, THEN became part of the NBA.  So, I followed my Dads lead and became a Cubs fan.  WISH TV would sometimes show the Cubbies.  Ron Santa became my first baseball hero, then of course the Sandberg era came along and I had years of fun during that time...I became a Bears fan by default too, but I remember tuning in one Sunday in 1975, and saw number 34, Walter Payton running over people and became a SOLID BEARS FAN.  Payton was the greatest.

Hockey on the other hand I always struggled becoming a fan.  There wasn't much hockey action in central Indiana.  It was hard to watch it on TV, especially back in the 60's and 70's when TV reception wasn't always the best and trying to follow a hockey puck was next to impossible.

But, since I was a Cubs fan, and a Bears fan, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and root for the Blackhawks.  Though I admit I was never an avid fan, I do remember my uncle giving me a Bobby Hull jersey and I thought that was the BEST!

I have to say, my #2 son has found a love and passion for Hockey when he won some free tickets this year for the Indy Fuel....a Blackhawks affiliated team.  He has me hooked right now watching the Stanley Cup and rooting for the Hawks!  We have been having a blast.  We are both anxiously awaiting a big game 7 this Saturday.

While I'm on the subject, PH...have you been noticing the Cubbies?  They seem to be putting it together with the new coach and a very talented YOUNG team right now.  I am excited about them right now.......

NOW, if the freakin BEARS can get there heads outta there rear end and get rid of Cutler.....THEY TOO might be fun to watch!

Tampa Bay Lightening are going to the Stanley Cup Finals with their win over the New York Rangers last night.

Tonight we will see who the opposing team will be.
