I have never liked modern country music, but I was surfing the channels and stopped on Palladia the other night. They were showing an interview with Jennifer Nettles talking about her CD "That Girl" interspersed with songs.  I was immediately hooked!!!  :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Last night I spent about 3 hours listening to what you might call 'the best of Pavarotti '-- on a PBS fund-raising program.  :smitten: :music1: Ranged from a love song from Aida to "Holy Mother" with Eric Clapton.

When I think of Pavarotti, I also think of my Old English Sheepdog, Patch, who died when she was 13. She sang along with him -- a rather soft high-pitched whine -- never did that with any other singer or music.

I miss this thread -- so decided to try to revive it.

Just finished watching the Maryland Public TV  Memorial Day program -- about 2 1/2 hours. Even though it was raining, there was a big crowd there. Arlington Cemetery. All those crosses.  :'(  I cried through most of it -- not a lot of talking, no politics, old military men and families, lots of music -- the National Anthem, patriotic songs learned in grade school, the military songs, The Battle Hymn of the Republic (which always gets to me).

The soothing hum of the air conditioning as it passes through the vent above my chair and wafts down to sooth me. . .

The silence is a welcome diversion. . .
