Those of you unfamiliar with what happened last Friday: A group of motorcycle riders was stopped at an intersection in Indianapolis, awaiting the traffic light. They were in the left hand lane, with vehicles to their right also stopped. The left hand turn lane was open and unobstructed.

A police cruiser approached behind them, lights on and siren blaring, so the riders stayed put, as they are trained to do in such situations.

The police car creamed them, killing one and hospitalizing 2 in very serious condition.

The cop was not charged, and it was 2 hours after the accident before blood was drawn from him to obtain a chem-screen. . . which showed his BAC was over twice the legal limit!!!!!! ON DUTY!

QuoteInvestigators ordered a blood draw from IMPD canine officer David Bisard at 1:48 p.m. Friday, more than two hours after he was in a deadly accident involving two motorcycles in Indianapolis.

Bisard was never booked into jail in spite of a previous accident, officials said.
"We have no record of him being here or having been here," said Marion County Jail spokesman Julio Fernandez.

Public Safety Director Frank Straub confirmed that two hours after the crash Bisard's blood alcohol content was 0.19, more than twice the legal limit in Indiana. . .

The officer involved has numerous accidents in his record going back to his time with the Noblesville PD.

I'd like to see us use this topic to continue the discussion surrounding thug police officers and please feel free to post any additional links to other incidents you come across, as well as to comment on the subject. . . I placed this here since this is a subject many hold very strong feelings on.

That is sad.  They do protect their own though even in a lot of spousal abuse cases.  What's really irritating is Noblesville is harder on drunk driving than a lot of other cities for the average person and I would almost bet those accidents involved alcohol too.

It said in the article he was a K-9 officer,  I sure hope the dog is OK.

Now beyond that, he needs some serious jail time.  I know there are some good people on the Indy PD, but there are way too many other ones, such as this.  It's a damn shame someone had to be injured and killed, to find this bad apple.

The old saying of, "you get what you pay for," comes to mind.  Our policemen are underpaid, so we don't always attract and retain the best candidates.

Yeah, I wondered about the dog as well. . . But since it isn't a pit bull the media will not comment on it I suppose!

I agree, this guy needs to be charged with DUI, DUI in an accident resulting in death, Vehicular manslaughter, and anything else they can charge him with. BUT, I noted the Chief gave a hint in his statement surrounding what they will likely do, which is to say he was "sick" and needed rehab. . . Indy is going to have to fork over BIG $$ to make this go away.

I agree surrounding "you get what you pay for"!  These men and women are typically not compensated enough for the risks they take every day. And the bad ones just crap all over them!

Oh yeah, no doubt about that! That thought came into my head as soon as I read/heard him say it! If it were one of us they'd be throwing us in jail and throwing away the key, and trying to hook us up with a date for the needle!

. . .More details. . .

Quote. . .The accident happened about 11:20 a.m. Friday at 56th Street and Brendon Way South Drive. Bisard, a canine officer, was responding to a request for assistance on a felony warrant and had his emergency lights and siren operating, police said.
Wells, 30, suffered head injuries and died. Weekly, 44, was in critical condition, and Mills, 47, was in fair condition at Methodist Hospital on Tuesday.

Bisard, who was slightly injured, was put on desk duty pending the results of the crash investigation.

Under IMPD policy, any officer who crashes a city-owned vehicle with even a trace of alcohol in his or her system faces a 30-day suspension for a first offense and termination for a second offense.

I said it for years, I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW TYPE OF COPS and people would criticize me for saying it. I say I don't like the new cops and their new style training.  From being  peace officer to paramilitary, jack booted bullies and killers and also revenue collectors.  Assholes who love to show their authority to everybody.  Hell, these manbe pambe cops dress up full combat dress just to deliver a arrest warrant for parking tickets.  Looking at them,  you would think you were in Iraq.

It must be fun to be a cop now.  It's like belonging to a rogue motorcycle club, like the Hell's Angels.  They can beat people up, tear people's stuff up, and kill people, wreck people's and wreck  their cars into junk, GET PAID FOR IT AND GET BY WITH IT.  The Hell's Angels have to do time, if they are caught.

This drunk cop should be in jail.  Anyone else would be in jail and charge with murder, DUI, wreckless driving and some more charges they like to charge the civilians with.  There would be no investigation before jail.

After the investigation they will fire this cop and he will go the court as an "ex-cop"  eventho he was a cop when he did it.  They never try cops, they try ex-cops.  Bull Shit isn't it.

Couldn't agree more.  A good example of what kind of services a lack of competition brings.   ;) (sorry, didn't mean to let the anarcho capitalist side in me slip out).

Chief Paul Ciesielski of IDP says, "Nothing was done any differently than it would have been done with the average "Joe Citizen". - on WTHR live on the 5:30 13 newscast.

That is nothing but outright bullshit. Had it been me behind the wheel of that car, they would have arrested me on the spot and administered a BAC blood test and breath test right away; not 2 hours later.

The cop just turned himself in and is charged with 7 felony charges including reckless homicide. Had that been one of us we would have already been in the jailhouse and would have been standing in front of a judge the next morning to be formally charged. This happened almost a week ago!

To date the involved officer has yet to make a formal statement to investigators. It is also reported that the most this officer will receive is 20 years behind bars. Twenty years for taking a life and ruining 2 others, all while working as a sworn officer of the court and under the influence of alcohol!

This is bullshit!

It isn't the lack of competition.  Every time there is a call for new cops there is a crowd of people who want the job.

I think, it the test and what the people in in charge think they want.

I knew a cop, a man who I really liked and he was a good police officer.  I have seen him go out of his way to be nice.  But, oh my god when you went past what he thought was improper and abusive.  Brother he could really hurt you.  I only seen once and only heard about it twice.  But that the way the way it should be.  Hit a cop, I think you went to far.

But one time he told me.  I joined the Indianapolis police department.  I went through all of the training.  That didn't bother me.  But when I graduated, the put me with one of the meanest son of a bitch, in the meanist part of Indianapolis.  It was unbelievable what he did.  I was with him for 6 months.  I was trained to be just like him.  The training didn't take.  I couldn't stand the son of a bitch.  I have never ever tried to be like him.  Except when I have too.

I would like to see one thing.  I would like to see the city give a "good" IQ test for new cops.  The ones I have ran into lately are sure stupid.

90 minutes after turning himself in, he is now free on 10k bond!!!!!!! :spooked:

Gee, I don't know; could it be because last year right after the state announced increased patrols to crack down on speeders, cops were flying by them at 80 MPH?

Of course, they're better drivers because they're older than I am...no wait, most of them aren't...but they have gone through specialized driver training...no wait, so did I in MP school...but they have more experience driving fast...no wait, I lived in Germany and drove on the autobahn for 5 years...ok, I've got nothin'.
