Of course you're not on a fixed income like my 91yr old mom who has watched her social security check shrink because prices for groceries have gone up and so has her cost for insurance coverage so you wouldn't notice things like she or people in her position do.

Perhaps your mother should have planned better for her retirement.  Maybe giving some more tax cuts to rich people will help her?

And of course, as I predicted back when these miscreants in congress created the fiscal cliff over a year ago, we are going over it in just a little short of 8 hours. Millions will lose their unemployment benefits, taxes go up 2% on everybody, and congress gets a pay raise!

No matter how you say it, it will NEVER penetrate the propaganda of the political machines out there, that are responsible for blinding millions of Americans, and conning them into actually believing that the lamb is bleeding them dry while the wolves lap at their throats!

It has taken decades of conditioning to turn those blind people into the hapless, and unquestioning lemmings that they are today; and no one's eloquence or word smithing is going to be capable of positively influencing or changing this fact within the course of 4 years, much less even a decade.  What will change their blind acceptance is nothing short of absolute collapse of our economic and social infrastructure; and then it will be too late to do anything short of domestic warfare to turn the tide. Even then, the abject conditions driven by the collapse of infrastructure will leave this country globally exposed to takeover; increasing the likelihood of extinction of the nation as a whole. And all for the furtherance of the governmental pandering to the 1%.

During these economically trying times, when an ever increasing portion of our citizens continue to struggle to survive, physically as well as financially, and our governments at the state, local, and federal levels find themselves doing the same, instead of making the hard choices as each citizen is forced to do, our government increasingly is turning on the lifeblood of its existence; the financial middle class and the poor.

   In government's greed to maintain its status quo, it continues to pander to the entities with the deepest pockets, while digging deeper into the pockets that are the shallowest. "We" are the low hanging fruit, and those branches are now all but barren. Instead of increasing the tax rates on the top 1%, that represent 40% of the entire nation's wealth, our government targets vital programs, (collectively referred to as "social safety nets"), that were undertaken decades ago in order to assure the future of this nation and improve the quality of life of those amongst us who can least afford the benefits these programs provide.

Instead of implementing legislation regulating health insurance companies and reining in their annual billion dollar profit levels on the shoulders of the infirm, we pass legislation that not only supports the continuing abuse, but supports abject premium increases across the country.  Instead of working to create legislation that empowers the voice of the individual citizen, and assures their constitutional rights, we render legal decisions that extend those very same rights and voice to faceless, soulless entities (corporations); and at the same time fail to hold them accountable toward conducting their operations and business practices within those very same rights. (As each individual citizen is REQUIRED to do). Enabling the voice (political contribution level) of the corporation to drown out the voice of the citizen; even in situations wherein those citizens are grouped into large "like minded" sectors! (Just how many "individuals" do you think it would take to equal the political contributions of just ONE corporation?) Even as those very same corporations take their operations out of the country! 

Instead of implementing cuts within the plethora of non-critical governmental funding, programs, and nefarious grants, our government FIRST seeks to slit the throat of the least amongst us, in order to pander to the top 1% and avoid the prolific, public squalling the bursting revenue streams of that 1% can afford to buy! Cuts in education, infrastructure, medicare/medicaid, social security, domestic military, and alternative energy sourcing ( to name a few) are nothing short of dooming this nation to a "third world status" within the global environment, and is at a minimum, selling out the collective future of the majority for the sake of the minority! (Can you say "General Motors" or "Chrysler"?)  It seems "we the people" refers only to the top 1% within a modern interpretation of the phrase!


When are these miscreants we've installed in congress going to realize that the fiscal cliff is the issue here and NOT their political ideology?

You want cuts? How about all you ass-hats give up your cadillac health-care plan and sign on with Anthem's Blue Card program? How about YOU start paying $389.00 a month for your healthcare plan like the rest of the citizens in this country, and be subjected to a 4000 dollar deductible with a maximum out of pocket of 10k to begin receiving 80% coverage?

How about we eliminate your pension plans, (as you have allowed corporate America to do to us), and when your ass gets voted out of office your benefits stop at once?

That ought to obtain a few billion dollar cut!

They have jacked around for another 4 weeks and sent us on a header over that cliff. When you get back don't be surprised to find your days numbered and a lot of us camped out at your workplace.

You want cuts? Start in your own home you idiots. Don't eat the horse that pulls the plow!

And another thing. Do you really need all those congressional aides and personal assistants? NO! Let's put all of them onto the unemployment roles immediately, and then YOU will be required to do your own research, answer the calls and requests of your constituency, and do some actual work for the money you are paid.

How about each one of you take a 30% pay cut like your policies enacted over the last couple of decades has forced upon the rest of us? How about your only retirement source being a 401k that the American public does NOT contribute to until after you've been in congress for 5 or more years, and then only at a less than 5% match for every dollar you contribute from your pay checks yourselves?

Oh, and no more "congressional vehicles" either. You want a car and driver, then you had better be prepared to shell out the money for it. No taking it home either unless you pay the high deductible required to insure that vehicle. And while we're at it you are going to have to pay a "gas surcharge" for use of the vehicle and taking it home.

Stamps? Pay for them like we do.

No more "lunch meetings" either. It's okay to do that but we aren't paying for that shit. (And say goodbye to that tax deduction).

Oh, and those junket thingies you are so fond of taking; buh-bye. You want to go to Israel on a fact finding mission and frolic naked in the sea? Go ahead! But you had better take vacation time and pay for everything out of your own pocket.

And while we're talking about vacations. Heres the new eligibility scale:


1 year or less - NO days2 to 5 years - 5 Days5 -10 years - 10 days10 years and above - 15 days


No more seasonal breaks either. Congress is in session each and every day of the year except for those federal holidays already in place and that are recognized by corporate America. You will report to work every single day.

Absentee Policy

Each day of work missed results in the accrual of 8 points. Partial days missed = 5 points

24 points = written warning 32 points = censure 40 points = performance improvement plan 48 points = termination and a mandatory special election to fill your seat.

And right on schedule, these asshats in congress today tried to pass a "temporary funding measure" as a stop-gap measure to once again, kick the can down the road and give them time to work out a funding scheme for our government. Only they also included defunding for the health care act in the bill - virtually assuring it will die a long and slow death as they take turns posturing on the house floor.

Apparently they don't even care that, while the government is shut down, there will be hundreds of thousands of families, ALL US CITIZENS, that will be severely and negatively impacted by their inability to do the jobs they are being PAID to do with OUR tax dollars!

You lost! Get over it! DO YOUR DAMNED JOBS OR GET OUT!

If you had you'd notice that fixed income your mother is existing on, is about the same as the best paying jobs are paying these days. Oh, and you had better have a masters degree to get them too, otherwise you're shit out of luck.

It's less PH but was sufficient until this latest round of inflation.  She also had some monthly income off of her CD's which has dwindled to nothing with the lower interest paid.  I do understand that though unlike most people.  Dad passed away before retirement age so he was a few years short of working for a full retirement, he was only 47.
