More than 200 hate incidents — ranging from swastika graffiti to physical threats — have been reported across the country since Donald Trump's election, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a non-profit that monitors hate groups in the USA.

Now many people of color, women and LGBT people who have long faced threats large and small must grapple with the knowledge that half of their fellow American who voted elected someone who has advocated policies aimed at them: Keeping Muslims and immigrants out of the country, using police tactics considered racially biased such as stop-and-frisk, and grabbing women without consent.

They are part of the other half of Americans who voted, many of whom wept on election night and since, crying not because their horse in the race lost but because they fear for their safety and well-being.. . .

. . ."In this case, Trump actually said those awful things about women, about minorities, and he stands by those remarks," Williams says. "It's very scary for people who are part of marginalized and stigmatized communities."

And yet, many people who are upset have been told, even by Trump opponents, to calm down — that it was just an election and that America would continue as it always has.
. . .

. . ."To say that this was just another election is blindly ignorant to just how ... viscerally this campaign ripped open the wounds of racial resentment in this country," says Ryan Lenz, a Southern Poverty Law Center spokesperson.  "And if it's not apparent to you now, I believe it soon will be."

Indeed, for many people who aren't straight, white American males, these latest hate incidents come on top of a year that was already terrifying and degrading. . .

. . .The outbreak of post-election violence aimed at minority groups is "not that surprising" given the language heard and violence seen at Trump rallies, Lenz says.

"Over the course of his campaign, Donald Trump has blown a dog whistle at a number of far-right ideologies from anti-Muslim extremists to flat-out neo-Nazis," says Lenz. "With his election, many racists feel. they've been legitimized."

Some Trump supporters — former KKK grand wizard David Duke or students who chanted "build the wall," for instance — openly praised this rhetoric. . .

Exactly. And rather than make statements that would have demonstrated his disagreement with these social extremists, Trump nurtured them and encouraged them by making inflammatory statements specifically designed to encourage such thoughts and actions.

And we wonder why there are protestors and civil disobedience events across this nation devolving into riots?

Paul Ryan said, that with the Republicans controlling Washington DC.   Privatizing of Social Security, Medicare and Medicade is a sure thing.  So is the elimination of ObamaCare.  I wonder how the American People will feel about that.         :gha: :gha: :usmad: :groan:

Obama to Joe Biden,  How are we doing, getting ready for Trump to take over the White House?

Biden to Obama, well, we got the all of the door knobs changed over to cat's heads.

Obama to Biden, why did you do that?

Biden to Obama, Well, when Donald goes anywhere in the White House, he has to grab the door by the pu$$y to go anywhere.    :sneaky: :ogle:

Donald Trump has chosen Steve Bannon and Reince Pribus to be to on his close advisers.  NEITHER ONE HAS ANY GOVERNMENT EXPERIENCE!  I wonder if Henry would hire the best tool maker, the best iron worker, the best plumber to be his second in comand of his electrical business.  :haha:

Mike Pence has decided to stay in Indiana until January to fight a law suit trying to get him to release his emails.   :huh1:  Mike Pence doesn't want to give up his email?     Does he have anything to hide.     Wasn't he suppose to head up Trumps Transition team.   Hillary showed all of her emails, why can't this lying bastard show his.

Have you seen what the damn Republicans are wanting to do to fix the highway problems.

They want a wheel tax on everything, including golf carts.  They are thinking about making the interstate highways toll roads.   Sure would help the people who goes to work every day on 69, 70, 75 and 465.   All of these taxes instead of just raising the gas tax.

Do you think that golf courses will pay wheel taxes on golf carts?  Or truck companies will pay wheel tax on trailers that they can licence outside the state.  :haha:  Tax the electric cars and tax the gas and diesel fuel trucks that actually use the roads.  Not some utility trailer, motorcycle  that sit in the back yard 99% of the time.

Madison County already has a wheel tax on motor vehicles, and diesel fueled vehicles (Commercial) also are taxed via their plating and fuel stickers as well. Every vehicle on the road is taxed via plating. Indiana is among the highest vehicle taxing states I've ever encountered. And the fuel tax is already high as it is.

Golf carts that are driven on the roads should also be subject to these taxes IMHO. User pays. They finally wised up on those mopeds and began taxing them by making them plate them. Hell, I paid more for my 8 year old motorcycle plates then I did for my 14 year old 3/4 ton pickup truck plates. Their taxing the shit out of us already and I don't see how they can pile even more on top without pissing off the entire state.

Toll roads are a joke. Some imbecile already sold the one Indiana had up north to a foreign entity, so how long do you think it will be before another like-minded imbecile, (apparently this nation is full of them), comes along and decides to do the same?

The fact is these asshats are still reeling from the property tax cap we voted into law several years ago. It took away their slush fund and now they want us to replace it by taxing the hell out of us in other ways.

The rumor is out that George W. Bush is more happy than he has ever been.     Yep, he's glad that the Republicans have voted in someone that is more stupid than he is or was.  :haha:  :haha:  :zoners:  :trustme:

I think he'll have to wait awhile until that 70 year old guy currently holding the position retires or croaks; whichever comes first.

In the meantime he can work in Tennessee helping clear out all of the burnt trees and trash left from the fire.  :big grin:  ($5/hr)

Anyone else see Ryan interviewed by Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes last night?  He was talking out of one side of his mouth and winking out the other.  He talked about wanting to get Americans working again and do right by the American people...by privatizing Medicare which has a trust fund that will run out.  He didn't mention Social Security, but he will.  The banks want those trillions in savings.

Then repealing Obamacare...omg....keep the 26 year olds on health care and he stated pre-existing conditions were good for insurance companies...Pelley let it slide right through.
