Exterminator

How does one simultaneously teach a child to be accountable for his/her own actions and that there is an invisible man living in the sky working in mysterious ways?
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

being a conservative, of course my kids will be raised, to be accountable for their own actions, know what hard work is, to be respectful of others, revere God, to listen to limbaugh, watch hannity, and NEVER vote democrat........why you ask?
Your inclusion of god, limpball and shamnity in the same line is pretty telling.  I assume you want your children to come to all those on their own, not dictated by you, given what to think by you and independent, working adults that don't depend on every little thing for your help, right?

Listen Dan,  I have a 22 year old who is in his 4th year at Ball State and on the dean's list....he is serving his county in the Indiana National Guard, he works and he is a great son, and brother to his siblings.
My 20 year old is in his 2nd year at Ball State, in the Music Program, studying music and wants to be a teacher...he too, is a tremendous kid

I have a daughter who is a freshman in high school, and is an honor student....and two 9 year olds who are outstanding and well behaved kids.....

the only thing I have done with them was love them....we go to church every Sunday and we focus as a family.  My two oldest boys, are on and off with going to Church, it is up to them if they go or not.....my daughter goes most of the time, but I do not force her.....my youngest go with us every Sunday.

My Limbaugh and Hannity remark was a joke that flew right over your head......We discuss politics a lot in my family, and my boys both lean to the right, but have some differing views sometimes...they ask for my opinions and I tell them firmly what I believe....but, they have their own minds and lives to live.

A lot of data I didn't ask for.  So, do they depend on you for every little thing or are they independent adults?  Do you want them to rely on you for everything they are and do?  Should take just a couple of sentences to answer.

Don't really care WHAT you asked for....I'm speaking my piece....what makes you think I would want them to rely on me?........I believe I have done my job, along with my wife, in developing outstanding young men, that are proud of this country and their family.  You got to give structure to your kids when they are young....you just don't let them make decisions on their own on every issue they want, and hope for the best...

Wow, still just can't get to a yes or no, huh?  OK, the reason for the question, as I believe you are of the evangelical crowd; if we are all children of god, then do you think the creator would want his creations to be totally dependent on "him", the father, with every action being prayed to "him" as his creation is totally helpless without him?

Do you think that is how a creator/father would want his creations/children to be?

Well, Dan, THAT is what I thought you may be fishing for........

The way I look at is....my boys, now have free will too do what they want, no matter WHAT they may do, I will ALWAYS be there for them...ALWAYS.  My LOVE for them is unconditional....but, I have done all of the "raising" of them that I can do...it is THEIR life to live..and can make their own decisions...to FAIL or be SUCCESSFUL....and there IS a price to pay for their actions...

Same way with God.......he gave us His Word (The Bible) for us to know the way........but, it is OUR lives to live and OUR decisions.......He will ALWAYS be there and He has unconditional LOVE for us...we can FAIL OR  be SUCCESSFUL...we have a price to pay for our actions....

that is my 2 cents Dan.....did you expect me to say something else?

I expected you to state, as most mature adults would do, that they want their children to grow up and be independent, self-reliant and not needy for everything from their parents.  That kind of a child would have grown up to be crippled in every sense.  So, why is it that for the evangelicals;

"We are nothing and can do nothing without jesus".  Would the creator/father of the universe want anything less than mindful, self-reliant "children" and not crippled adults who can't do anything without him?  Just speaks to the insanity that is having a "personal relationship with god/jesus".
