CORAL SPRINGS - A Coral Springs toddler pulled from a pool Monday afternoon remains in the hospital today, police said.

Edna Mae, who is 18 or 19 months old, is at Broward General Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition.

Edna was in her family's home, on the 3400 block of Northwest 114th Lane, when she fell into a backyard pool shortly after 4 p.m., said city police spokesman Sgt. Joe McHugh.

The pool had a child-safety fence around it, but the toddler managed to get through an opened part of the fence, McHugh said.

The mother was home at the time of the accident.

Edna was first taken the Coral Springs Medical Center and moved to Broward General Medical Center, McHugh said.

Although police are investigating, no charges are expected so far against anyone.

"It appears to be a terrible accident," McHugh said.

The above article was in the local newspaper last week on August 4th.  After that showed up in the newspaper, a relative of mine posts this on Facebook:

PLEASE...join us in prayer for a little girl named Edna Mae. She is a 19 month old baby girl who's family are members of our Church and she had a pool accident yesterday. She is currently in ICU and there have been no changes to her status.


Ok, so they're praying to ole' Gawd for help now that he let that poor little girl fall into the pool.

CORAL SPRINGS - A Coral Springs toddler who was hospitalized since being found unconscious in her family's pool last week has died, police said today.

Edna Mae McGovern, 19 months, was pronounced dead at Broward General Medical Center on Tuesday, Police Sgt. Joe McHugh said.

Edna's mother found her floating faceup in their pool on the 3700 block of Northwest 114th Lane on Aug. 3.

Edna was removed from the pool by her father, who immediately began CPR.

The child was taken to Coral Springs Medical Center in critical condition, and then transferred to Broward General.

The pool was equipped with a fence at the time of the accident, but one section of the fence had been left open, McHugh said.
