J.D. Salinger   DEAD!
He will never die.

Factoid: In Shoeless Joe, the Kinsella novel that was made into Field of Dreams J.D. Salinger is the writer that Ray brings back to the cornfield/diamond. James Earl Jones played him in the movie, but I don't remember what they called him. Pretty good movie. Better book.
