Good Luck Libby, it is a terrible thing for a person to watch a sister or anyone else go through.  You have my best wishes.   :vday:

Thank you, my friends. We all knew about the sister with Parkinson's (early onset like Michael J. Fox), but the other is something else again.  :'( I'm not ready to talk about it yet.

I cannot believe it has been almost a year since I wrote about the above. At least I cannot remember writing. Anyway, the sister with Parkinson's  is a little worse than I remembered -- physically she  needs help to get around and tend to more personal needs. Her dear husband has been through doing that with help from several aides who come in days. And she has gaps in memory; does not always remember who is who.
As for my other sister, she needs total care, all the time. Right now, she is in such a facility just minutes from their home, which is up for sale. Their only child, a son, lives and works several hours'drive away. His hands are FULL because dad has visual problems and can't drive. SO, when mom's room mate died, dad said he wanted to move in with her.  And the facility said OK. So, as I write this that's where things stand. Son still has their house and car to sell, and then decide what comes next. Dad is, according to another sister, happy to be in the room with mom, where he is a great help in meeting  her personal needs. As for her mental state, she seems happy, mostly does not speak, sometimes seems to remember who is who by mostly nodding or smiling.

(She was an active, vivacious person until after she had two different surgeries on her feet (bunions). That meant she was off her feet for quite a while, then had a bad fall which injured her cervical spine (as far as I know from what others say). My other sisters and I visit her as often as we can  -- we all live about 6 hours drive away.
