I've read, here and in the Washington Post, and listened to MSNBC et.al. and am so sick of, alarmed by what faces us with DONALD TRUMP as POTUS, that I am just about to take off for parts unknown -- except that I can't, right now. Too many loose ends. So, here, from today's Washington Post Style section, is something of the kind The Post sometimes tucks in an unlikely section that makes so much sense:

Sylvester Stallone, Trump appointee?

By Emily Heil

Sylvester Stallone. (Matt Slocum/AP)

Looks as if the Trump administration is off to a "Rocky" start — actor Sylvester Stallone says he is "flattered" to be mentioned as a possible appointee of President-elect Donald Trump to the National Endowment for the Arts, but it seems he does not want the job.

After a report that Trump had offered the NEA chairmanship to Stallone, the actor on Sunday released a statement indicating he does not want it, but he said he would be open to a role that focuses on helping veterans. Stallone is "incredibly flattered to have been suggested to be involved with the National Endowment for the Arts," he said in a statement to Variety. "However I believe I could be more effective by bringing national attention to returning military personnel in an effort to find gainful employment, suitable housing and financial assistance these heroes respectfully deserve."

An action-movie tough guy would be just the sort of celebrity Trump would love. But as Variety reported, Stallone is not necessarily a Republican.

"I love Donald Trump," Stallone said in an interview with the publication in January. "He's a great Dickensian character. You know what I mean? There are certain people like Arnold, Babe Ruth, that are bigger than life. But I don't know how that translates ... to running the world."

Okay, a couple of things I feel like responding too regarding this:

1.) It has only been "reported"....and that he was "considering".... Stallone.  I have never heard Trump say "He was going to nominate Stallone"...It is just more "fake news" that our media is DYING to find things to MAKE news.

2.) Let's just say that there IS some truth to this........why is it you assume Stallone is a bad pick?  Do you know anything about Stallone besides his movies? Apparently he is an accomplished artist and a collector of art.

He may be a bad pick, I'm not defending or endorsing....I don't know....but people are so damn froggy to jump on EVERY issue a reporter "alleges" something regarding Trump....you are only hoping and praying that he is a failure.

How is this fake news Hank?

Even your favorite outlet, Fux News, is reporting it.

by making it news, when it is only "reportedly" or "allegedly"....is seems like they are so damn anxious to run with something, before the facts come out.

I never claim fox is not reporting it.......fox is better than most, but they love to sensationalize crap before it is fact.

Why is it so important to say Stallone is "reportedly" or a Trump rep said that "Stallone is an interesting choice", then BOOM!!! It becomes a FACT and everybody begins to slam Trump BEFORE it is a FACT.

This is just a weak example of how the "press" has been for quite some time now.......I for one, am sick of it.

Republican allies of President-elect Donald J. Trump made overtures to Mr. Stallone, 70, last week about an arts-related job, two Trump advisers said on Friday.

^^

It's coming from two of his aides Hank.

Again, how is that fake news?

Again, how is that fake news?

"no formal offer had been made and that Mr. Trump and Mr. Stallone had not met or spoken about the actor joining the administration"....THAT right there is enough to make it fake news...

In the attached article that Libby started this with, the writer says "After a report that Trump had offered the NEA chairmanship to Stallone".......

He HAS NOT OFFERED him the job!!!....at least not formally....and yet, this reporter signifies that it had been offered.

FAKE NEWS!!!!

:dizzy2:

Jeezus!  You're nutso!

He is/was under consideration for the job Hank, although apparently isn't interested.  I think that's all the reporter was intending to communicate, and most news outlets (Fux included) are reporting this consideration.  There's nothing fake about it.

WTF??

It isn't NEWS!! it is HYPE based on speculation....on something that isn't even news worthy in the first place...It is Enquirer News at best!!!  At least wait until Trump actually offers him a job before everyone goes into freak out mode (AGAIN)...

Maybe all of this just amuses me because it seems like the news is diggin so hard to find crap on Trump....

If I am over reacting, I send my apologies....
