A guy was hit on Saturday and is in critical condition but still alive.

This morning a man was hit and killed by a train.

While one would expect this somewhat within a city that has commuter rail, Anderson does not so when I first heard about this I wondered what the hell was going on?
The guy hit this morning had no ID on him and the media has reported very little surrounding details on the incident.

I stopped by a local food venue on the way home to pick up dinner. I noticed a man on an older model motorcycle with ape hangers pulling into the lot on my way in. (I don't do the drive thru thing. Why? I take Joe Pesci's line, "Never use the drive thru? Why? They f#ck you every time", very seriously).

I placed my order and decided to sit at the edge of a vacant booth to wait for my order to come up. In walks the guy on the bike, and he places his order and comes and sits on the edge of the seat in the vacant booth next to me.

We made some small talk for a bit, (This establishment is notoriously slow), and then he commented about the guy getting killed by the train. I told him yeah man, I wonder what the heck is going on in this town? He said, "I saw it happen".

Now I instantly was skeptical of this so I asked him a couple of questions. He told me that in his opinion it was a suicide. "I don't know about that guy Saturday, but I saw this guy walking down the tracks as I was riding to work this morning, and I heard a train laying on the horn. Long blasts, and I wondered what the hell he was blowing at so I stopped. I looked around and there was the guy on the tracks, wearing a dark hoodie, pulled up over his head, and I watched him walk straight into that train."

I highly doubted the guy was telling the truth, but about that time my order came up, so I wished him well, told him to ride safe, and came back to the stall so the wife and I could eat our dinner.

The news was on and I was telling my wife about what the guy had told me while I was getting our order. She asked me if I believed him, and I told her I didn't know. And then the news report came on so we turned up the volume and watched it intently.

The camera panned alongside the graffiti covered train cars, and settled upon one that had a white sheet hanging from it. The segment had been filmed very early, so I assumed it was not too long after the incident had happened. And as the camera turned to the "on the scene reporter", after delaying on the white sheet, behind which the deceased victim's remains laid, I spotted the old motorcycle with the ape hangers sitting right there in the background in the shot. And as the camera panned around to return to the train, there was the guy I talked to, talking to a police officer. . .

Weird man. . . seriously weird!  :spooked:

Wow, that's sad. I guess I do know the train was long enough it went clear back to Raible. Ron and I had to come all the way back to the Scatterfield from Madiaon to get across so we could go to LJS for lunch. It started moving when we left LJS but we were going to Pay Less anyway and it was just clearing Meridian as we got to that light.
