I find it kind of disturbing that cursive handwriting is no longer "appreciated" as time well spent in our classrooms.  Not surprised, but I still find it somewhat disturbing.

  I do agree that it a mistake to not teach hand writting.   It will be the same mistake they made when I was in the first and second grade of school.  When they stopped teaching Phonics.  They got a bunch of kids who couldn't sound out a work or spell worth a damn.  They did bring the Phonic back.  But the damage was already done for the kids that didn't get it.
