Magnitude 7.0 quake strikes Haiti

(CNN) Jakarta, Indonesia -- Four people are missing and feared dead after a volcano eruption in Indonesia, according to a National Disaster Mitigation Agency official.
Mount Karangetang, on Siau Island, is one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes, according to The Jakarta Globe.
In Friday's eruption, about five people were injured, one seriously, said the disaster official, Priyadi Kardono. Sixteen families, about 65 people, were evacuated from their villages to safer ground.
At least one house was buried and several other buildings, including a church, were damaged, Kardono said. Rescue and aid teams have been sent to the area. A bridge was also damaged, isolating about six villages with about 20,000 residents. Communication lines are down. . .

  Hey PH when is Indiana going to get our earth quake.  I got earth quake insurance.  Replacement insurance for my 130 year old house.  If a little quake would move my house off of it's rubble foundation, it would total it and the policy is good for $200,000.

  I think I could have something built for around a 100k and put the other 100k in the bank for some fun.  Also we got replacement insurance of the household good for 25k.  All I need is a small, small earth quake and get a new house and furnishings.

Better check with your insurance company, don't think you will get 200K, they will pay your contractor the cost of whatever you build up to the 200K, not just hand you 200K. At least that is the way it was explained to us, we have replacement insurance, too.

I'd say 2012 is more likely than an unexplained, simultaneous disappearance of religious zealots!

  Well, we will build a $200,000 house here of the lot and live in a short time, if ever and then sell it.  Then buy something that we can afford on a fixed income.  I like my location and my lot.  But, I don't love it that much.  I sure don't want to pay property tax on a $200,000 house.  Come earth quake, maybe Palehorse will give me a heads up.

7.2 magnitude earthquake strikes near Christchurch, New Zealand, USGS says.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.5 struck off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
A local tsunami watch was issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center after the quake struck at 9:42 p.m.
Its epicenter was located 240 km (149 miles) south of Padang at a depth of 33 km (20.5 miles), according to USGS.
