The Korean War started on June 25th, 1950 and ended on July 27th, 1953.

  • The Korean War was fought between North Korea (along with the Chinese about halfway through the war), and the United Nations with South Korea. It was a fight against communism.
  • Over 3 million people died in the Korean War.
  • The war led to nothing. All it did was prevented communism from spreading into South Korea. No other gains were made, only many casualty losses.
  • The Korean War has become almost Forgotten, sometimes called The Forgotten War. This is because it occured right after World War II and right before the Vietnam War. The Korean War often gets overlooked.
  • 16 Nations sent forces to fight in the Korean War. It was practically a World War all on it's own involving so many nations.

  • MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals) began being used during the Korean War. The MASH units saved thousands of lives. Once a soldier got to a MASH unit he had a 97% chance of survival.
  • 6.8 million served on active-duty during the Korean War
  • 1.8 million served during period of hostilities 36,940 died in theater during the war
  • 4,793 died while missing in action
  • 92,100 service members were wounded in theater, some several times
  • 8,176 are still listed as missing in action 7,140 were POWs of whom 4,418 returned
  • 131 Korean War participants received the Medal of Honor
  • The median age of Korean War veterans (2003) is 69
  • California has the highest number of Korean Veterans
  • 18% of Koran War era veterans did not have a high school diploma
  • 46% of American casualties were sustained between July 1951 and July 1953
  • 16% of veterans serviced by Veteran Hospitals are Korean veterans
  • 172,600 Korean veterans receive service-connected compensation

Look, Hank. I'm tired of doing your research for you.

You know what tipped me off that a lot of that was bogus?
"All it did was prevented communism from spreading into South Korea."

Yesirreee!!!! A real scholar wrote that.

OK. I'll give you one.

"The Korean War marks the beginning of the Cold War."

Ever heard of the Yalta Conference?

Now you go check the rest. Some are true. And that's the problem with your little dittys like this. There is some truth spread among the lies.

You want to honor our soldiers? Don't mix garbage with their praise.

So many lies?......you gave me ONE lie......and that is debatable..more like..splitting hairs....and if I known that YOU was going to have a tizzy fit over a debate of when the "cold war" started, instead of keeping your mouth shut...and just honor the soldiers.....you felt the need to get the change the topic....for what reason, i don't know....

NO, I didn't run it past your "sacred" snopes or any other fact check sources.....it is not like I am posting this in front of thousands to read...or for a congressional hearing......just you and about 10 or 15 of your liberal buddies....but if it makes you feel good to attack this article then go for it.
