Perhaps they should take their research to the old hospital building and inquire as to what happened to the two little girls missing since the tornado years ago! Perhaps these spirits were consulted in the picking of the speaker for the 4 th of July shindig!  Maybe the spirits are partial to country music!

Group to take scientific approach to paranormal research

Ouija boards, amulets and things that go bump in the night. These are the images that are conjured when ghost hunting is discussed by people.

But in Woodward a new group is being set up to scientifically look at the creatures of the night.

The Northwest Oklahoma Paranormal Research team is looking for new members.

President Kyle McGee said the group consists of eight people right now and has been active for a month.

"Whoever's interested is welcome to join," McGee said. "I'm really open to somebody that's a skeptic as long as they have an open mind."

Membership in the group is free, but applications are required.

He said the group has already gotten permission to conduct investigations from a handful of people.

McGee mentioned an old home where people have reported paranormal activity along with an old doctor's office as two of the sites the group plans to explore.

Although the group is based in Woodward, McGee said he is not against the idea of going to old ghost towns around the area.

"It's just something that hasn't been done here before," McGee said of why he decided to start the group.

He did mention that there is another group, based in Enid, that uses the title Northwest Oklahoma and conducts some paranormal research. But he is hopeful that the Woodward group overtakes the one from the eastern city.

Also because the group is just starting out, McGee said members will need to bring their own equipment on paranormal investigations.

The team does not conjure the dead, McGee said, so Ouija boards or anything like that is never used during investigations. Instead the team conducts their investigations scientifically. They use flashlights, meters, digital recorders and audio/video cameras.

Also, McGee said the team is looking to carry itself in a professional manner so there are no drugs or alcohol allowed at any of the meetings or investigations. He said the meetings will be carried out diplomatically with a president, vice president and secretary.

Investigating ghosts is something McGee says comes naturally to him. It is something his family has done.

"I've had different experiences in the past," he said.

As of now the team is focused on expanding its membership.

"Psychics are welcome," McGee said.

Eventually he hopes the team can become a non-profit organization.

Will the owner allow it? Last discussion that was had about the old hospital, the owner got pretty snotty about not allowing a group such as Ghost Hunters to go through there.

They're investigating ghosts, but not conjuring the dead? LOL!

I had no idea that it had been discussed afor.  I do know the story was done by unsolved mysteries with a false hope coming of that!

I thought it sounded like something different and interesting to do, but I have got to be the biggest scarty cat in town.  I'll watch spook movies and read Stephen King, but I have been in some pretty scary places and situations and I don't think I would be any good at it.

Same here... I don't mind reading about them, or watching ghost hunts on television.  I surely do not ever want to be confronted by a ghost.

One of the main reasons I like to watch ghost hunts, is to see the big strong men shriek like little girls and run for their lives. LOL.
