QuoteWASHINGTON - President Bush's embattled anti-terrorism plans got a boost Wednesday when a wiretap bill was revised and a Senate Republican leader said he was hopeful a deal was near on treatment of detainees.

Prospects for the two critical pieces of legislation remained unclear; Congress is speeding toward a recess next week as Republicans fight to retain majority control in the midterm elections.

Nevertheless, a bill by Rep. Heather Wilson gained steam Wednesday after she rewrote it to allow warrantless wiretapping when an attack is imminent, as Bush has demanded. Even so, she told reporters differences between the House and Senate versions were unlikely to be worked out before Congress reconvenes in a lame-duck session after the Nov. 7 elections.

Now answer me this.  He just got done blaming Clinton for 9/11.  How is he now going to tell us an attack is "imminent" when we know from Iraq, he has no idea what that word means?

Is this a legitimate request to wiretap Americans without a warrant?

Or is this more power grabbing to allow the Government the right to decide who is a terrorist and who is not?

How do you feel about this?  Violation of your constitutional rights and if so, which one(s), or the legitimate concerns of the presidient and if so, please provide documentation to support that and not just your opinion.

Tanks. ;D

They are trying to eradicate Habeus Corpus.  Which is a cornerstone of our constitution and which prevents a police state.

Quoten common law countries, habeas corpus is the name of a legal instrument or writ by means of which detainees can seek release from unlawful imprisonment. A writ of habeas corpus is a court order addressed to a prison official (or other custodian) ordering that a detainee be brought to the court so it can be determined whether or not that person is imprisoned lawfully and whether or not he or she should be released from custody. The writ of habeas corpus in common law countries is an important instrument for the safeguarding of individual freedom against arbitrary state action. In times of war governments may seek to limit the use of habeas corpus; currently, the United States in its War on Terrorism has used the option of suspending habeas corpus while detaining certain non-citizens suspected of connections to terrorists or terrorism as enemy combatants.

Bingo, moon.....you are so right.  And with Bush pushing for the right of the government to determine who they will arrest and detain, it spells out getting rid of those who disagree with the government...geee...the repubs have created a communist country!!!!

Repubs!!!  You got some s'plaining to do!!!!
