Upon moving to Seattle, I noticed a number of men roaming the streets in what appeared to be kilts.  Now, these weren't your typical tartan kilts with sporrans.  They were denim and khaki and even...leather.

While on a date on evening, I mentioned this to my companion.  She said that a lot of people think that men wearing "utilikilts" were gay, but in actuality, they were very much into women.  (She added that the men in sarongs are the ones to watch out for.)

While I was downtown a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon the Utilikilts store.  While I didn't try one one, I was taken back by home mainstream these are becoming here.  I don't think I could get by wearing one to work -- even on casual Friday -- but the more I seem them, the more inclined I am I buy one.  (If just for the sake of being Seattle chic.

Unless you are from Scotland, or go to Highland High school, these are nothing more than skirts for men.
