Tommorrow my husband and I are going to Niabi Zoo. It's located just about on the Illinois/ Iowa line. We used to go every year, but last year I was too sick, to do anything. So, I'm really looking forward to going. I've heard they've done allot of renovations, since I last went. We always ride the little train through the park. We're just big kids who refuse to grow up LOL!!! My favorite thing is hand feeding the goats.  I like feeding the Coy and swans too. When I get home I'll post about how it went.

I tried to attach the link, but I think their site is having technical difficulties. From what I could see, it appears to be cool. I saw something about 900 animals and something about conservation, so, I'll be very interested in hearing all about it (aside from how much fun you and Mr. Dexter Morgan are going to have).

BTW, I subscribe to the 'peter pan' outlook on life too. Not the syndrome, just the let your hair down and have some fun- outlook. LOL

I just kind of fly by the seat of my pants too LOL!!!! It really is a great zoo to visit. They have a carousel that has jungle music playing. It's kind of like being in the tropics. Later in the week ,we're going to a place in Iowa, called the Amana Colonies. It's a 3 hr. drive from here. My husband has been there before, but I never have. I think it will be neat. I hear there are allot of great places to eat.  :eat: I'm one of those people that think about the food more than the actual attraction.  :drool1: So, if the food is good, I'm there!!!  I'm not sure on this, so don't hold me to it,but I think Amana Colonies is German based. I think it was German settlers that came to the area, and set down roots.  I think it will be neat too. We were going to go last year ,but I was too sick. I'm much better now and looking forward to going.  .

You're right Dex. I was able to get the link for this one:

Sounds cool. The trails alone would draw me.

We had a great time at Niabi Zoo.  The only thing wrong was it was packed. We didn't know it but it was half price day.Which would normally be a good thing, but it was really over crowded. My husband had kind of a hissyfit, when he realized there were alot of screaming kids there. I told him the Zoo is child oriented,so there were going to be kids there. We both love children, but the older we get, the more they kind of get on our nerves. I suppose thats to be expected to an extent. We're not getting any younger LOL!!! I really enjoyed it though. We went to this Gibbon Monkey exhibit, the monkey was all the way across the enclosure, the minute it saw me it came swinging across on a vine, and sat right in the viewing window,in front of me.  That was AWESOME!!!!! I've never seen one close up before,so it was really cool.  There have been alot of improvements since my last visit. They're also building  a new exhibit that will have Giraffes, exotic birds, and Australian animals. This is going to be a big draw I'm sure. It's a huge undertaking. I don't know when it will be done, but as soon as it is we're going to it. We usually go once a year, but when they get it done we're there LOL!!! It was just a real nice day.
