That's right along the Cascadia Subduction Zone that one day is going to deliver a disastrous quake.

Yup! And it is when that sucker falls silent for awhile that we are in for it in the midwest. . .

It looks like this isn't likely to happen at least for another 50 years at best according to "experts".....I actually, don't believe they have a clue as to when these can happen..but

I think Exterminator posted this a bit ago, and I had already read it at the time, but I think it's worth posting again.  It's quite a compelling read.  I especially like the last line where the author is in Cannon Beach, Oregon, and he writes this:

All day long, just out of sight, the ocean rises up and collapses, spilling foamy overlapping ovals onto the shore. Eighty miles farther out, ten thousand feet below the surface of the sea, the hand of a geological clock is somewhere in its slow sweep. All across the region, seismologists are looking at their watches, wondering how long we have, and what we will do, before geological time catches up to our own.  :spooked:

That is kind of funny, I just saw this article as I was googling this this morning.  I didn't read it all, but I was skimming through it.

A magnitude-7.8 earthquake hit close to the Solomon Islands early Friday, forecasters said.

The earthquake hit less than 30 kilometers (19 miles) off the island of Makira -- and 70 kilometers (43 miles) southwest of the island's city of Kirakira -- about 4:38 a.m. local time Friday (12:38 p.m. ET Thursday), the US Geological Survey said.

My thinking might be wrong, but if it didn't hurt anyone else and I and wife and cat wasn't home.  I think I would like for my house to be shaken off it's foundation.  I think I would like a new $220.000 house with new furniture.

Make sure you read that article when you get a chance Hank.  I'd be interested to hear what you think of it.
