This morning I was in the shower -- had just soaped up my hair and turned toward the shower head to rinse. Didn't realize I had my mouth open until I felt fairly hot water going down my throat. Left lung. I jerked away and found I could not take a breath. No time to shut off the shower or get out of the tub. Bent down, with my head as far down as possible, still couldn't breathe, so coughed and gagged for a while, trying not to panic. Finally managed to take a shallow breath but it still took a while longer and more coughing before I could stand up and take a normal breath. Afterwards, I thought of what the newspaper story might have been if I hadn't been able to cough up that chlorinated hot water (I was alone in the house): Woman found naked and dead in bathtub with shower running. Foul play not ruled out. Autopsy scheduled.      (I am nutty enough to laugh as I read this.)

Thank you, Anne.  It was scary at the time.
