On Thanksgiving week I was not feeling up to par, but was so busy ignored it until Wednesday, when I started coughing a lot, was feeling very tired, and had a temperature. By the time I admitted I might need help, my doctor's office and all others I knew had closed for the "long holiday weekend." On Thanksgiving Day I ate a sausage patty and drank orange juice for breakfast, and that was the last I ate. Drank orange juice and water. and took vitamin C. Mostly slept and coughed and slept and coughed until Saturday, when I realized I had to get help, so went to a walk-in doctor's office near my home. He gave me an antibiotic because my symptoms were not viral in nature. The antibiotic helped but really messed up my stomach, and by Sunday evening I had another complication: bad diarrhea. In the fog I was in by then, I stopped the antibiotic and remembered I had some Metamucil on hand, so took a tablespoonful in a glass of water. That took care of the diarrhea. Finally got hold of my doctor's office on Monday afternoon (they'd had a busy morning), and got an appt for Tuesday morning. She gave me a different antibiotic ("not so hard on the stomach," she said), and told me to eat lots of yogurt . The new antibiotic worked, but it took a while longer to sleep through the night (or get through the day) without coughing. Finished the antibiotic on Saturday, and last night I slept the night through without waking up coughing. And, oh yes, I lost 5 pounds in 6 days.

That cough is going to linger for several weeks, so get comfortable with it.

I got what you had 5 weeks ago. I just this week have finally realized a drastic reduction in coughing fits and lung butter. My wife, by my experience, has another two weeks to endure with hers. . .

I am very sorry you had to got through the worst of it over Turkey Day though.  :'(

But, at least you know what you are having for Xmas; right?
