A letter I recently received, I thought I would share this with you guys, I find this very interesting.

Thank you for contacting my office regarding the effort by states to pursue federal government reform through the constitutional amendment process provided for in Article V of the Constitution.

As you may be aware, nearly 100 state legislators from 32 states met last December at George Washington's historic Mount Vernon estate in Virginia to begin fostering communication and interaction among the states in pursuit of a state-led effort to amend the U.S. Constitution.

The Mt. Vernon Assembly adopted a resolution which includes plans to hold a second meeting of the states in June. This meeting will take place at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis.

Because an Article V amendment convention has never taken place in our nation's history, it's important to establish the rules and procedures for such a convention before it is called. The meeting in Indianapolis will pursue this objective, making sure a convention will be well-organized, state controlled and limited in scope. Legislative leaders in all 50 states will be asked to send one democrat and one republican to this meeting.

My involvement with the Mt. Vernon Assembly and the larger state-led amendment effort springs from my serious concern with the direction in which our country is headed and the apparent inability of our federal leaders in Washington, D.C. to enact serious, needed reforms.

I believe that in these troubling circumstances, the states must stand up and exercise their legitimate constitutional powers to help rein in the federal government, which has seemingly lost touch with the American people and ceased to be bound by any limitation.

Many have asked how they can be involved in this process. While formal participation in the upcoming meeting in Indianapolis is limited to currently serving state legislators, I encourage every citizen to be fully informed about the power granted to states under Article V of the Constitution and to contact their elected leaders on the state level. Make sure they are aware of this issue and encourage them to get involved. It will take the states working together in order for progress to be made.

I think the main one is a Balanced Budget Amendment.  That is what they want to discuss in June.  They want be clear and specific when they go, to keep it from being abused.

  I quite sure the Republican Party wouldn't f#$k the constitution up.     You know damn well they will go their best to screw someone up.
