So what do y'all think of Obama now?  He recently sent yet another subtle signal, bowing to a Saudi prince, which is way against protocol.

Now, he's a'tellin' the world that technically, because of the numbers, we are one of the largest Muslim countries in the world... And "technically," if he'd actually checked the numbers, we are waaaay down that list.

At any rate... I've never seen such a hot mess messiah. One minute he's bragging about his atheist upbringing, the next his mother was a Christian. He runs from the reality that he was raised Muslim for his first years... Claims he wasn't listening to "g** d***, America" Jeremiah Wright for 20 years... boasts we are not a Christian nation to the world, and now.... we are one of the largest Muslim nations in the world.

I don't care what his beliefs are. Heck, I'm an atheist... but at least I'm honest about it. I am rather concerned what his real game plan is.

I don't recall ever seeing that anywhere.

Although I wouldn't classify the UNited States as a muslim nation "at this time," I would say it isn't exactly a Christian nation and hasn't been for a long time.  I would classify it as an apethetic nation of "what can I do for myself" at this time.

I think for many, we're also a nation of people beat to death with multiple jobs and high taxation.

Certainly folks are apathetic on many issues, but mostly I think they are too afraid of losing the jobs they still cling to, to get involved too deeply in local or state politics.

Or maybe they think it wouldn't matter anyway, and I've come to the conclusion myself over the last few years, that they would be right. The media seems to lead us all by our nose rings.

I know as an older American I feel the helplessness and hopelessness these people feel. I have watched our rights get taken away from us, one by one. I have watched a goverment that was once held accountable for their actions by the people become arrogant, greedy and self serving. I have watched where we are called names and put down if we are patriotic or believe in God. Its just not cool anymore. I have written many many letters, made phone calls and made my opinion known to no avail. It took awhile before I realized that they did not care. We are all paying the price for the apathy, greed and whats in it for me attitude that americans have adopted. Mostly those in power. You will notice that I did not say rep or dems, because they are all guilty of this. It breaks my heart.
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Gryphon

what rights have you lost mcgonser?

mcgonser

the freedom of hiring who you think is best for a job without worrying about meeting quotas or EEOC
The right of banks and business going bankrupt like the rest of us without being bailed out.
The right of my goverment listening to me and other voters on what we want and doing the right thing
The right to feel that the gov actually cares about me and other americans instead of their hidden agendas.
The right to not have a corrupt and lying goverment spending my money beyond any sensible control
The right to get justice in our court system instead of the mockery it has become
The right to feel safe in America
The right for Americans to come first, not Europe, Asia or Middle Eastern foreigners.

You thought I would mention civil rights or bill of rights. Those are legal things that need to be worked out in the system somehow. These others rights are my rights I expect.

The right to get on an airplane with my signature brand of Avon lipstick in my purse. I refuse to go anywhere without it! Out of my cold dead hands, and all that jazz! :)

mageepet

The right to get on an airplane without undressing first!

Freethinker

There you go, Mageepet... the right to get on a plane without getting undressed and undergoing a colonoscopy first.  :o

mageepet

the right to strike matches on my shoes, just for the heck of it!

Freethinker

LOL... can you imagine the terror with that guy trying to light his shoe, and others trying to blow the flame out and tackle him?

My biggest fear was never of any attack, but of the condition of the planes. The rattling fuselage, the wind whistling through the closed window... Stuff like that.

I had to be forced on a plane by a boss in my early 30s, because I was refusing to fly, having watched one too many Airport movies -- like the one with Dean Martin and Karen Black.
