Last week, we found out that our restauraunt will be getting security cameras. A lot of people are upset about this. I for one am glad. Appearently, there have been some problems with theft at work. This is how I see it...... If your'e doing what you're supposed to, and not stealing, you've got nothing to worry about. I think it will be kind of fun, because one of our day cooks, sits on his ass and smokes, and texts or talks on his cell phone, at the back door all the time. That is where one of the cameras is going. I wouldn't think of sitting down on the job. If I did that, I'd get my ass chewed. It's age descrimination. Because I'm older they expect me to pick up the slack, for the younger workers, that wont do their job. But anyway..... What is everybody's opinion on cameras in the workplace? Do you think it is good or bad?
i think ultimately the question is always the presumption of guilt. having said that, if someone wants to put cameras on their property, that is their choice. i wouldn't want to work there. although if it is otherwise a place where privacy wouldn't be expected anyway, i guess it wouldn't practically matter. but the attitude would be a problem for me.

Everything is pretty much out in plain sight. There must be real problems though because, about 4 months ago, they made the managers lock the office, everytime they came out of it. I'd say there is something serious, when they make them do that. We're talking about walking several feet away from the office, they have to lock it. :spooked: It does bother you in a way. But what bothers me more than anything, is why they continue to employ, and hire people of that character? Jesum Crow!!!! :spooked: We have a severe problem with unemployment in our area. I'm the only worker there, that pays for food from there. Everybody else just takes what they want.
I think its a shame that employees can't be trusted and that employers are forced to do something like that to keep from being robbed blind. As long as there are no cameras in the restrooms I see nothing wrong with it.

That was my only concern. Then I wondered about job procedures. We only do stuff by the book, when corprate is coming. I'm not talking bad things, just nit picky procedures that slow us down. Little things that virtually do no good. That concerns me. They can watch me all they want, they'll just see a blur of motion flashing across the store. More like me running around like a chicken with my head cut off, while everybody else is standing around doing absolutely nothing.

I used to work in fast food and I always hated it when corporate came... The manager didn't particularly like either but we usually were prepared even for the surprise visits. His motto was there is always something you can do when we aren't busy and we did it. He was a good manager though and we didn't have a lot of turn over.
I hate to be the damsel of doom but the reason they are installing security cams is in the event you guys are robbed -- insurance rates are much lower for restaurants that have cams installed.
This way, cops have access to the tape and the restaurants' liability decreases.

They told us there was a problem with theft. A manger at another store, owned by the guy that owns ours, did some pretty serious stealing. I'm not sure of the specifics but, that's what I was told. Most of the time they treat us like criminals, asswipes... they're all asswipes I say.
What the hell are they stealing? If it ain't money what? Chicken? LOL :rotfl:

Yeah!!! :spooked: and other food products too. :spooked: When I worked at Mcdonalds, one time the room mates of one of the managers, stole the keys to the store, and broke in. They took hamburger patties, breakfast steaks, and the candy bits they put in the Mcflurries LMAO!!!! Needless to say they got caught. They were fired. The owner of the store is REAL BIG on second chances, and didn't press charges. The manager did get demoted back to crew status though.
My GAWD--I've heard it all--stealing chicken........now that is redneck! Isn't it sad that people will steal anything???????

In my book there is nothing worse than a thief. Stealing from others, who have worked hard to get things, is just a low, lazy ass thing to do. Hell, in town bicycle thefts are a major problem. BBQ grills are also a hot commodity. We have this guy, that was climbing in peoples windows, in broad day light, when the residents were home, and taking purses, and bill folds off kitchen tables. :spooked: Jesum Crow!!!! :spooked: Now ,that takes some BALLS. I guess he was peeping in windows, and he'd see a purse, and climb in the window. They told people to not leave their purse, or bill fold in plain sight. We've got idiots that walk around town with meth labs in their backpacks for cryin' out loud. Yep, everything has gone to hell in a hand basket.
My boss installed some outdoor cams at work cuz people were throwing beer bottles and trash in our lot.
When he went to review Friday night he was treated to a lovely viewing of someone...ummm "orally pleasing" another person. Right on our stairs! EWWWWW!
Think I'm gonna use the back door Monday .................

Jesum Crow!!! :spooked: I don't know if they installed the cameras at work yet or not. I don't want to ask anybody, because it might look like I worry about it LOL!!! I've got nothing to hide. I have noticed our fuck off cook, hasn't been sitting on his crate by the door, smoking, eating, and talking on his phone. Now, he set up 2 crates between one of the cookers, and a wall rack. I would imagine we do have cameras, because of that, and he acts like he's trying to work harder LMAO!!!
