Title: Phoney Patriots...
Post by: Henry Hawk on October 03, 2007, 08:47:04 AM
I am sick to death of the people out there who are trying to make a big deal out of the Rush Limbaugh statement about Phoney Soldiers....

Please explain to me what HE did wrong and why THIS ended up on capital hill and 41 Democrats are condemning Rush's comments.........explain to me WHAT he did wrong?...................Does he not have a right to HIS opinion?............

It is okay for MoveOn.Org to truely SLAM a Military Hero............But, NO!!....Rush Limbaugh, (a radio personality) to SLAM a PHONEY, who IS NOT a hero, but a liar..........Show me where Rush has EVER attacked the Military!!..............you can't!......

Talk about the Spin Zone..............THIS is all about trying to get the fairness doctrine reinstanted................this is about CENSORSHIP.........this is an attack on AMERICA FOLKS!!!..............I'm as pissed as I have ever been..................

The democrats, who believe want folks like Rush and Hannity to be restricted on the air, SHOULD be ashamed!............

If you don't like Rush.......fine...............don't listen to him!!!!!!!

If enough people quit listening to him.....He will go away!!!..........Just like Al Franked did...............

If Rush...Truly attacked the Military...........then, it will bite him in the butt....................................and people will stop listening to him

But you know WHAT?...........He DIDN'T!!!........He has supported our troops ever since he has been on the air!!

THEN, you got people like Harry F'ing REID.....who wants Rush condemned........got a letter from  Clear Channel, who airs Rush's Show...
http://www.politico.com/static/PPM43_071002_reidletter.html (http://www.politico.com/static/PPM43_071002_reidletter.html).....This letter says it all... ;)

Why doesn't Harry, go on Rush's show and tell him to his face?...........cause he is a piece of shit politician!....that is why, he is a spineless coward.....HE IS A PHONEY PATRIOT!!!....

as said by Rush himself....

"Harry Reid NEEDS to step down and resign as the leader of the Democrats in the Senate, for his constant, uncontrollable contempt of our armed forces....his repeated use of our troops for political purposes....Harry Reid has failed in his mission to lead the Democrats in the Senate, to get what they want . . . He is the one who is dishonoring the troops; he is the one who is making a mockery of their service."

It THIS type of retoric by the democrats that is going to allow the Republicans to win the White House in 2008!!...

..................................................

whsheeeooo!...there I feel MUCH better...

what he did wrong:

No true Scotsman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
No true Scotsman is a term coined by Antony Flew in his 1975 book Thinking About Thinking – or do I sincerely want to be right?[1]:

Imagine Hamish McDonald, a Scotsman, sitting down with his Press and Journal and seeing an article about how the "Brighton Sex Maniac Strikes Again." Hamish is shocked and declares that "No Scotsman would do such a thing." The next day he sits down to read his Press and Journal again and this time finds an article about an Aberdeen man whose brutal actions make the Brighton sex maniac seem almost gentlemanly. This fact shows that Hamish was wrong in his opinion but is he going to admit this? Not likely. This time he says, "No true Scotsman would do such a thing."
Flew's original example may be softened into the following [1]:

Argument: "No Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."
Reply: "But my uncle Angus, who is a Scotsman, likes sugar with his porridge."
Rebuttal: "Aye, but no true Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."

Personal Attack
Also Known as: Ad Hominem Abusive.

Description of Personal Attack
A personal attack is committed when a person substitutes abusive remarks for evidence when attacking another person's claim or claims. This line of "reasoning" is fallacious because the attack is directed at the person making the claim and not the claim itself. The truth value of a claim is independent of the person making the claim. After all, no matter how repugnant an individual might be, he or she can still make true claims.

Not all ad Hominems are fallacious. In some cases, an individual's characteristics can have a bearing on the question of the veracity of her claims. For example, if someone is shown to be a pathological liar, then what he says can be considered to be unreliable. However, such attacks are weak, since even pathological liars might speak the truth on occasion.

In general, it is best to focus one's attention on the content of the claim and not on who made the claim. It is the content that determines the truth of the claim and not the characteristics of the person making the claim.

Examples of Personal Attack

In a school debate, Bill claims that the President's economic plan is unrealistic. His opponent, a professor, retorts by saying "the freshman has his facts wrong."

"This theory about a potential cure for cancer has been introduced by a doctor who is a known lesbian feminist. I don't see why we should extend an invitation for her to speak at the World Conference on Cancer."

"Bill says that we should give tax breaks to companies. But he is untrustworthy, so it must be wrong to do that."

"That claim cannot be true. Dave believes it, and we know how morally repulsive he is."

"Bill claims that Jane would be a good treasurer. However I find Bill's behavior offensive, so I'm not going to vote for Jill."

"Jane says that drug use is morally wrong, but she is just a goody-two shoes Christian, so we don't have to listen to her."

Bill: "I don't think it is a good idea to cut social programs."
Jill: "Why not?"
Bill: "Well, many people do not get a fair start in life and hence need some help. After all, some people have wealthy parents and have it fairly easy. Others are born into poverty and..."
Jill: "You just say that stuff because you have a soft heart and an equally soft head."

MoveOn.Org.....slammed and 4-star General for doing a Job that Congress asked him to do.............

Rush is a celebrity, who has his OWN show and voiced an opinion about a person who faked being a hero.....and clearly that was it....period....and the democrat spin machine "tried" to connect this with moveon.org..............and FAILED! ;D

All I asked IS, by my fellow forum brothers and sisters..............WHAT DID RUSH DO WRONG?..........other than hating him, why does this seem okay?

if his comments were meant to degrade this one individual, then yeah, he deserves this.  should i be allowed to take a full page ad in the new york times calling you a poopiehead?  but i doubt that was his intent when he said "phony soldiers".

but if it was, then again i'll challenge you to find a "real soldier" who disagrees with you and rush.

should be no problem.

There ARE more than ONE of these so-called Phoney Soldiers.......do you honestly think he was degrading 'real soldiers'?....he has nothing to gain by that....and he does have a track record of supporting our troops way above the normal celebrity...

awol, this is such a cut and dry case of a political scheme to TRY to censor conservative talk radio...........their after Savage......they been tring to get O'Reily.......

these guys are a thistle in the democrats paw......and they WANT it out....

I agree, HH. I could understand all of this upheaval if Rush had lied - but he didn't. What he said was 100% true. There are 'soldiers' that are out and out lying about things that they do not see just to be a mouth piece for the anti-war movement. It's frustrating to hear about this because we (the public) do not know what is honestly going on with these deceivers muddying the waters. Heck, ABC had the same story using the 'phony soldier' label earlier last week. No backlash against ABC - hmmmm....
This is all about the Fairness Doctrine.
Anyway, I was relieved this morning to hear that ClearChannel was standing behind Rush and not squeezing him to apologize for something that he didn't do.

I'm glad Clearchannel is standing behind Rush.  This whole thing is ridiculous.

To understand why the left is running with this thing, you need only look at the dialog between Rush and the caller.  In the transcript, "real soldiers" are defined as those that want to be in Iraq.

QuoteCALLER:  Phony soldiers.  If you talk to any real soldier and they're proud to serve, they want to be over in Iraq, they understand their sacrifice and they're willing to sacrifice for the country.

By this definition, any soldier fighting in Iraq that doesn't want to be there, but still fights anyway, is phony.  The context has nothing to do with the phony solders like Jesse Macbeth even if that was what Rush was implying.  Like I said in another thread, I'm sure Rush didn't mean it the way democrats are making it out to be.  It would be suicide for his career.  I'm just saying the comment, taken IN context, is saying...well, no need to repeat myself.  Hell, we gotta give these worthless POS's in Washington something to do so they appear truly concerned for their constituents.

That's something else that has irritated me this week. Don't our representatives have more important things to do in our capital than worry about what Rush Limbaugh said on his program last week. Give me a break and start earning my tax $ that you grovel for while campaigning!!!
GET TO WORK!!!!

....and they (our Senators & Congressmen) wonder why they are rated so low when this is the #1 thing to discuss on the floor. It's truly sad.  :'(

Where was all the outrage when they were taking time and your tax dollars to whine about moveon.org?
