Theres a new show on HGTV, hosted by Vern Yip of "Trading Spaces" fame. Their website describes it as:
"Designer Vern Yip hosts a new feel-good design show that gives a break to the people who really need it the most. Deserving Design is uplifting and empathetic and showcases Vern's remarkable talent and warm sense of humor. In each half-hour episode, he will actually make over two rooms, developing a design plan that will bring balance to home, family and life. Homeowners help plan one room's makeover — the other room is a total surprise!"
I think this is a wonderful idea...and made me think...who would you nominate for a "Deserving Design" makeover and why?
I actually did something similar last year I guess. My grandmother, who is 82, lives in the same house she and my late grandfather bought 64 years ago as young newlyweds. When they bought it, it didnt even have indoor plumbing. Over the years, they added on and modernized it, but there was never a bathroom on the main floor, and the laundry room was in the walkout basement. We all got nervous about grandma climbing all those stairs, so my aunt, uncles, cousins, and I took up a collection and turned a little used sunroom into a new bathroom and laundry room for her. I picked out tile, paint, and had new curtains and shower curtain made. The end result, though not expensive, was a beautiful, bright, bathroom that she was thrilled with, and we all feel better knowing she can live on one level now.
So...who would get your deserving design makeover?
Please nominate me! I'm a new home owner, poor, and have a lovely personality! :smitten:  ;)
Yeah, I'll nominate Kimmi -- gotta support my broke friends with impeccable design tastes!
Thanks dahling!
