How cool! You could see how nervous he was, he was near tears. I don't think I've ever heard Simon compliment someone from the onset (although I don't watch American Idol). It's awesome to see someone realize their dream that way.
I ranked him right up there with Pavarotti. I don't like opera but I do like him and one other guy I can't think of his name at the moment though.
He does have a sweet voice. I wouldn't call myself a "fan" either, but I'd love to see one and I enjoy listening to some of the more popular ones.
I do like those deep baritone voices....
Oops, I guess he's a tenor...lol Just looked it up.. :-[ Shows ya what I know about opera...lol
OMG it brought tears to my eyes! I'm a sucker for a tenor!
Andrea Bochelli is my oprah gimmie! haha :smitten:
He is awesome. I think if he hadn't won, it would've been total pandemonium. It made me cry too. It's nice when a kind of average Joe wins things like this. He has real talent. These days people judge everything on looks.I think thats sad. He's beautiful on the inside.
Yes, he is beautiful on the inside. Did you notice how humble he was?

Yes, he is very humble. I think he's kind of bashful too. I'm so glad he won.
Me too. Can you imagine the people he knew who had never heard him who watched the show thinking he was going to make an @$$ of himself and the surprise they got? Simon just about fell off of his chair I do believe 'cause you can tell by the look on his face before it started he was thinking the guy was gonna be a joke.
I had to watch it again! I loved it that the girl judge did one of those big exhales so that she didn't start to cry! She was moved too! God bless his dorky little heart!
Sure would be interesting to know if he ended up performing or not.
He really did a fantastic job on that piece.
Did you guys watch the little girl, Connie? She's so adorable:

Yes, she was not only adorable she has a nice voice. Considering her age she really did an excellent job.
Simon caused me to tear up a bit

I actually heard about him on the news. I'm too much of a softy, to watch American Idol or the British version. I can't stand the way they chew'em up and spit'em out on those shows. I watched the first 2 seasons and couldn't take anymore LOL!!! I know the contestants set themselves up for it,but I just can't watch.
I don't watch much TV at all anymore. I sometimes get the urge to watch dancing with the stars but figure it just isn't worth it.

Usually in my free time I come to The Zone. I don't watch TV until about 11:00 pm. I don't go to bed until about 1:00 am. Going to bed that late, makes it difficult to get up at 7:00 am, to get ready for work. If I'm not tired I don't try to force myself to go to sleep. It's a waste of time.
Just an update on this one. Paul Potts did go on to win the entire competition.

Congratulations to him.
Thanks for the update. I would like to have seen the final performance but it's blocked here because of rights. :'( Oh well, at least we got to read about it.
Yeah I know. I tried that too. ;D
What is that all about? Like they don't get to watch American Idol when it is on!
I think it's because of where the link goes to. If we can find it on Youtube we can probably view it.

Me either, I'm lucky to have found my way to The Zone LOL!!! :bliss:
He is awesome! that is one of my favorite Italian songs. God love that guy!
Actually, the link you posted was to the semi-final. Here's the link to his final performance. He returns to the Puccini piece and does an extended version.

I will buy the album!
He really does quite the job. I'm glad he won.
I think I would too. I admit to being a rock person at heart but I do know good music when I hear it and he really puts his heart and soul into what he's singing. It would be great to listen to at night while sleeping IMO. His voice is really soothing.
I can see myself making sauce in the kitchen for a few hours listening to him. That would really put me in the mood to cook!
That is the most awesome success story! What a genuine and sweet person he is. Although, I thought lil' Connie was very brave, not to cry, did you see her trying to be a good sport? The little sweetheart pulled it off.
I would need to listen to it while doing nothing like when drifting off to sleep picturing the orchestra in my head and enjoying the feel of the music and the sound of his voice.
I could see me listening to it in either circumstance, cooking or laying in a nice bath w/candles and a glass of wine. Even a nice stormy day, just laying around the house. Since we don't really get storms here, I'll have to settle for cooking or the bath. LOL
without opening another link and slowing my computer even worse...who are you talking about?

You think that, but you miss it when it's gone.
Speaking of stormy, it's getting ready to here in not so sunny Fort Lauderdale.

You're right. Could I send you the frequent tornadoes and hail storms??? I'll just keep the gentle falling rain.

We had a pretty good one here this afternoon. The worst of it was south and east of us though.
