(And why can't I create a poll to complement this topic?)
Recently, a professional photographer invited me to model for an art project. The project would involve some nudity. I am not uncomfortable with the thought of posing nude. I've responded to a number of art class want ads in the past, but for one reason or another nothing materialized. Likewise, I am not uncomfortable with this photographer. I checked out his work and references and they are all positive.
However, I always hesitate when I think about how these pictures could be used against me in the future. Photos are different than posing for a painting or sculpture. There's no denying it would be me in those photos. How would I explain that to my boss if they appeared somewhere publicly accessible? Or my family? Yes, there are nude pictures of me on the internet from various nudist functions, but they are candids. This would be the first time I've "knowingly" allowed someone to take staged pictures of me.
But, this is something I've wanted to do for several years and here I am presented with the opportunity to make it a reality. So, on one hand, I may regret doing it down the road, but on the other, I may regret not seizing the opportunity while it exists.
Perhaps once I obtain a copy of the photographer's release form and find out exactly how these photos might be used it will make the decision easier.
That would definately come down to a personal choice. The only thing I could possibly add would be my opinion. Personally, I would only consider being a nude model if it was for art but now the definition of art comes into question. Photography is one of those mediums that swings in all different directions, so I DON'T think I would ever consider it.
Hey, I'm impressed that your thinking down the road because it could very well come back to bite you!
Yeah, you could hang with the competition. Haha, no pun intended.
I say go for it! We live only once!!!
Well, where's the goods? I mean, I know I've seen it before but still! LOL (That just sounds so wrong, doesn't it?)
You know with all due respect, this is one question that I wish I never ever had the opportunity to enter my brain........the mental image that is now burned into my skull is going to haunt me for a very long time.......i'm speechless.....with nothing to add to the conversation at this time........................................kind of one of those awkward moments...................................................................................goodbye
Unless you are planning on going into politics go for it.

Hold your pants on. You know I'm indecisive.
Yes, I am aware of this! LOL
Okay, so I followed through on this opportunity. It was a rather liberating, yet intimidating experience. One of the shots is my new avatar. I'm going through the rest to see which ones are appropriate for public distribution.
C....with all due respect, I just don't get it......I cannot comprehind anything positve about letting a complete stanger take pictures of me, and allowing them to be seen to the world....I'm not knocking you...I, guess it would take some balls (no pun intended.....okay maybe slightly)..to do that....
I'm not sure what to say.....................congradulations?!! ;D

Yeah .... we know!
I don't know what the big dieal is, I do it all the time, well, except now I'm wearin the santa hat.... :)
I would pose nude at the drop of a hat, but I'd demand that the photographer was blindfolded, and that the shot was taken of my reflection in a Fun House mirror with a soft-focus fisheye lens from a fair distance.
was it for fun or for profit? lol....
that took a lot of sand to go through with that.... the only photographer i use for my "less than dressed" shots is myself....
It was for fun and personal fulfillment. I've spent the better part of the last 15 years coming out of my shell and this was just another step along the way.
It was nice to have a professional do the lighting and poses. It sure beats the ten seconds my digital camera's self-timer usually gives me.
Amen to that!!
hell yeah.
i thought about having a professional do it...
The full-sized version of my avatar for anyone who is interested...

I'll try, but, I still have a very sick feeling....
Okay, so I've got the nerve to post another of the shots from my modeling experience. It doesn't show anything, but I'm obviously nude in it.
So as not to offend too much, I'm linking it here.
Edit: On second thought, I've removed the link for now.
was it more revealing than you had thought? LOL
Not really. It's a full-body side view. I'm just not sure where the line is here, so I'm treading cautiously.
Here it is again. (http://www.geocities.com/ryanp24/ArtShoot045a.jpg) If management complains, I'll pull the link.
Nice side shot. :)
