My 5 year old daughter decided to channel surf and now I am forced to watch some sort of cartoon about Purgatory on the christian network. ARRRRRGGGGGGGG!!!! It would be so easy for me to walk over and change the channel but i love her enough to find her own path. Talk about a battle within myself. :-\
Whew, glad that's over...lol ;D
Wasn't that hell, Wickey?
(Sometimes I kill myself......hahaha.....wait. I didn't mean that literally. Whew.)

I won't lie, it was hard, especially when she started asking questions about hell. I think I handles it pretty well. ;D
I'm glad mine are too busy being Cooter and Enis (sp?) from Dukes of Hazzard. Last week they were Bo and Luke. No churchy tv for them. Its not exciting unless someone has handcuffs, guns, fast cars...
Quotebut i love her enough to find her own path.
IT'S NOT TV. Before you know it, she'll want some purgatory merchandise and then you spent money on some phony, corporate hysteria that has no meaning in life. If she wants to be a Christian, more power to her. But don't let the tube become her source of inspiration and knol\wledge. YOU'RE RIGHT...NOT THOSE FUCKERS TRYING TO TELL YOU WHAT TO THINK AND BUY!!!

That's tough to do isn't it. In the case of my children, what I really dislike are the people who aren't open minded enough to realize that they should form their own opinions and try to force their opinions on them. It actually, drives me nuts. I'd much rather give them the information or point them in the right direction to get the information about whatever it is they're asking about regarding religions/faith. It's a tough battle w/so many different influences.
Use the parental control feature on your cable box. Block that propaganda out!

Wiccy for what it is worth, in my opinion....if you beleive that it is crap, then by all means don't let your five year old decide what is crap....she is counting on you for that at this age...I know if it was my kid that is how I handle the situation....as a mater of fact, I don't allow my 16 year old to watch whatever he wants, If I think it is crap, then he won't watch it...
now with that said, that is only my opinion, and I do not want to offend you, you gotta do what you feel is right for you and your kids...it is only my advise... :)
It's not so much that I think it's crap, it's the fact that it was a cartoon and they way it was portrayed was very scarey...especially to a 5 year old. I just think it was way too harsh to be in cartoon form.
Sort of along the lines of South Park. My children would just think it's a cartoon but we all know it's for adults only.
My daughter has been very inquizative lately regarding religion and why mommy refers to herself as a Witch. I will teach her what I know about any religion she is interested in.
If she choses to be a Christian or any other denomination, I will support her fully and hope that educates herself enough to teach her mom a thing or two...lol

Your are very good mommy!! ;) :)
This doesn't really apply to the subject at hand, but it's kid related. I didn't want to start a thread, but I promised Lil' Mojo that I would ask. I sincerely hope this isn't offensive. I really don't know and I've been presented an opportunity to educate my child and I want to be informative and factual.
Her school had it's fall festival last night. She dressed up as a witch. Originally, she had planned to go as the mythical folklore kinda witch, but decided to just wear the costume and be a friendly witch. This sparked a myriad of questions from her about witches and I wasn't able to answer very much. I explained to her what I know about Wicca, which isn't much, mostly what you've told us. I also told her that there's a difference between a Wiccan and the mythical sterotypical witches. She was very intrigued. The one question that I wasn't able to answer was about male witches. Are they really called Warlocks?
Is there reading you could recommend? I'm thinking for her really. She's 9. That way, since the interest is sparked, she can work on her reading skills, learn about Wicca and we can do it together at bed/cuddle time. Thanks.

If you could recommend some reading for us adult children, that would be great too!
~SIGH~ I always love it when other folks want to truly learn the truths about my beilefs. ;D
First off, let me start by saying that male witches are called Witches. Warlock is a term adopted by the Goth culture and it actually deemed a derrogatory term to a true Witch.
If you meet a male who claims to be a Warlock, i'm am sure it's just for shock value and he has not done his homework. :o
Second, let me thank you all for wanting to learn more about Wicca and Paganism.
All Wiccans are Pagans, all witches are Pagans but not all Pagans are Wiccans or Witches. Not all Wiccans are Wtiches...confused yet? LOL
Paganism has many different belief systems such as Christiananity has Catholic, Baptists, ect.
The internet is a wonderful tool for learning. http://www.bewitchingways.com/wicca/wicca.htm is a wonderful website and easy to understand.
The truth about witchcraft today by Scott Cunningham is a wonderul book to read and so is Paganism: An introduction to earth centered religions by Joyce & River Higginbotham. This book was so informative to me and answered so many questions i still had and it is written in easy to understand terms.
I believe your daughter will love leaning about witchcraft. It gives children a better understanding and appriciation for our beautiful world around us and mother nature. Witchcraft is enchanting also, almost with a childlike wonderment that will captivate not only your children but yourself also.
As with any religion, it is a constant learning experience and since it's a nature based religion, you will find that you discover magic and enchantment in things you never noticed before.
I promise, you will never look at a full moon the same again and when you start to see results from your practicing, it will transform you into a more loving, understanding, compassionate person.
My son is 8 and has not shown much interet thus far except that he love to help me plant flowers. My daughter who is 5 is going to turn out to be a strong little witchling but she is also learning about Christianity also. As a parent, it gets confusing at times but all I can do is give her correct information about both and let her choose her path.
www.cauldronliving.com is a wonderful site also.
Happy reading everyone and hope you find enlightenment on your journey.
Blessed Be!!
Exactly Wickey. I want to let her explore her ideas and make up her mind what makes sense. Rather than have me do it for her. That doesn't really work. I read your post to her and she standing beside me grinning from ear to ear. Thanks so much for the information. We're going to take a look at the links now.
Show her www.witchschool.com also. I am a lifetime member and if she would like to learn more, this is a wonderful tool.
Wow, it'll take a lifetime to go through all the courses. Thanks again, Wickey, she's excited.
Aww sweetie, you are very welcome. She sounds like she has found a path that is calling to her soul...I wish her the brightest blessings on her journey.
Hows your hubby doin?
He just called this morning and said he gets to come home in an hour or so but they want him to not go back to work until tuesday. They are also getting him his own personal breathing machine for work. We have one here for the kids but now he has one.
Apparently, this resp infection, stress and other factors brought back his asthma in a bad way.
We also bought some leather furniture off my sister and she has 3 smokers in her house so it stunk up our house for a few days. I have completely washed it down and aired it out but the doctor thinks it added to his condition.
I am so glad he can come home. They weened him off the oxygen this morning and his levels are still only 94% so we are praying it's not due to some underlying lung problem.
What the heck happened to PH corral? I can't find it. :(
Not sure but I see he is the newest member....Did he disappear in the time change portal?
He must have been doing the time warp again. LOL I see he is all back now and accounted for. :)
