March 6, 1836 - General Antonio López de Santa Anna recaptures The Alamo.
General Santa Ana's 3,000 Mexicans attacked 189 Texans at San Antonio on February 24, 1836. Within 13 days, nearly all the Texans were dead, including Davy Crockett, William Travis and Jim Bowie. The only ones who survived were Susanna Dickenson, her baby, and the servant of Travis. The massacre at the Alamo was memorialized in the cry, "Remember the Alamo!"
The Texas Declaration of Independence declared:
General Antonio Lopez Santa Ana ... having overturned the constitution of his country, now offers, as the cruel alternative, either abandon our homes ... or submit to the most intolerable of all tyranny ... He denies us the right of worshiping the Almighty according to the dictates of our own conscience.
Quoteor submit to the most intolerable of all tyranny

now that you mention it, it IS kind of fun to say, Santi Anit,Santi Anit,Santi Anit...kind of tickles the tongue....
What all there is there to see?...
It's been over 10 years ago when I was a mere lad, but from what I remember, the lights were dim, there were many different rooms, all with a thingy to read about Davy and the gang in each room (or most of them). It was a guide with a lady talking about what went down. I really wish I could remember more. The hotel we stayed at was right across the street from the Alamo. I could just look out the window and see it. The Riverwalk in San Antonio is beautiful and fun. If ya haven't been, I would recommend.
just think, if the mexican objective was to 'nation build', then that battle could still be going on..
