Oh my, I'd have to pick two.......Love that view!
Me, too, FCM! My auntie is going to an open house today to look at the inside for us...if it's great, she'll make an offer! Only thing that concerns me from the outside pictures is the closeness to the road right there -- but, who wouldnt' want a white picket fence out front? ;D
Thanks for looking & your opinion.
Oh YES< YES! Two ... it HAS to be TWO! Love the view.... LOVE a pond... be sure and send pics of the insides.
Do you and hubby like to do remodeling? If there are small quirks, you could fix them as long as the foundations are strong...
how busy is the road that you see... maybe it is a side road... but i think that a white picket fence would be just perfect with this house!
Ah, thanks, LRHG! Yes, my husband is actually a builder (all around fix-it man)...so, if the land is conducive, he could even add on if we need to. The price would certainly allow us to do that.
Plus, he wants some land to roam on -- I believe that home has a couple acres, is somewhat out in the country (but only 5 miles from town), thus the road isn't *too* heavily travelled.
I can't wait for him to look Tuesday & take photos!
I like 1 and 4! I like the views from 2, but we don't know the other houses' views...
I appreciate your feedback, Daisy -- you know we so often think alike. I have pictures of #1 and it really needs A LOT of work -- plus, it appears to have foundation issues (which isn't totally a problem for husband).
#4 definitely is in a nice neighborhood & has a decent back yar, however, it's pretty close to town, a private college, and the property/school taxes are rather outrageous.
That's the benefit/setback to moving back home, knowing the quirks of the area...
1 would be my second choice, but 2 really speaks to my heart.
So, when and why are you moving/??? You'll have to look for a winter coat as soon as you move!
Is the view you show from 2 a view from the back??? if so, then 2 has a GREAT back yard, too... !!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh, I know, LRHG...trading the vacation life (blue skies 360 days/yr) for blizzards & rainy days. Kinda crazy, huh?
Overall, it's been a wild & crazy 2 years -- hurricanes, death(s) in the family, job issues for husband, etc.etc.etc..so, I'm just really eager to return 'home'. I *miss* the changing seasons, snow at Christmas, autumn (mostly), the comforts & securities of being in your home town, plus, the extensive natural/professional support system.
Thanks for asking...
Ooh winter coats are one of my passions! (Yes, I'm weird) I could see Sunny in a long, peacoat style wool muted red and brown plaid, or in a ski jacket style, puffy and light pink. I have all kinds of winter coats. I get at least one every year! (I have a black leather below-the-butt-length Banana Republic, a brown brushed suede with a fluffy caramel lining that shows around the collar, a white "Michelin Man" coat ski jacket, a red Landsend zipup waterproof with my name embroidered on the breast, a long green one with a zipout fuzzy liner that I only wear in really nasty conditions, a blue wool peacoat from the Army surplus store...and those are just the ones Hubby didn't make me get rid of last year)

I believe so, LRHG -- I'll know more in an hour or two when my aunt calls. She *crossing fingers* should be at the open house right now.
Is she going to send you pictures from the inside???
Okay, Daisy -- that's just too freaky. When I moved down to FL 2 years ago, husband demanded that I choose 2 or 3 coats to keep -- so, I chose a BLACK Wool Peacoat, a Columbia ski jacket & a black leather jacket.
Well, when I flew up to PA for my mom's funeral in January -- I didn't take a coat with me. DUH! HOWEVER, there hanging in her coat closet was a brand new PINK ski jacket -- never been worn.
I said, she must've known!
LOL Daisy... you are your own fashion show looking for a place to happen! LOL
are you in WV? or Indiana????
And, Sunny, we have sunny days in the Appalachians, too...
and being happy in one's surroundings can make even a rainy day show the silver linings in the clouds.
Maybe it is too early, but "welcome home"... :D
Mom's DO have that sixth sense, don't we?????
Sunny... if your aunt sends pics you MUST send them on!!! This is exciting... i love new houses ... even if they are old new ones. :-)
Now I'm excited about the white fence and seeing the inside rooms.........that #2 just screams.......Pick me....Pick me!!!!!
Me too! Sunny's making me want to go house shopping...somewhere BESIDES Indiana.
We are going to PA in November. I can't wait...I know its too early for the decorations, but Ligonier's town circle looks sooooo neat around Christmas. That's where I want to live!!

That is funny!! I can picture you in the pink one! LOL
Too early for decorations... what you talkin' 'bout girl....
i am decorating for the Autumnal holidays... scarecrows, gourds, grapevine wreaths, colorful colorful leaves,... then turkeys and pilgrims....
YIPPEE!  :yeah:
LOL okay, well heres what gives me the warm and fuzzies. This is what I want in a hometown:
Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. LOL
That is beautiful, makes me want to put on ice skates and hit the pond that must be right there also.
Looks a lot like the town where I'm returning, Daisy...but it's in NW PA.
Yeah, you're going to be north of Pittsburgh...but this is only (I think) an hour south...Is it closer to P'burg or Youngstown? I've heard you mention going to Youngstown.
Pretty... white lights are beautiful.....anytime of year!
You'll be close enough for visits... at least half-way meetings.
Heck yeah. We are going to be out there for a full week this spring (November trip is only a weekend to visit family). If Sunny has moved by then, I will find a way to meet up with her!
I know... I know.... we can have a forum reunion at that lit up gazeob! LOL
Ooh that sound good!

Sure thing! I'm thinking I'll be there by Christmas...
*sigh* My auntie didn't get to take any pictures of #2 at the open house...but, our realtor will allow my husband to take some on Tuesday.
One bad thing...it's not zoned for the school district we wanted for our girls.
Ho hum... :-\

I think I'll be there for a full week in May. We will have to get together for a little while anyway!!!!!
I'm game...there's probably a decent halfway point -- an outlet shopping center. We'll chat when it gets closer!
Most definitely!!
in our county, you can get your children in an "out of district" school so long as you provide transportation.
Maybe they do that there...
Ahhh...I will certainly investigate, but I believe you have to pay tuition of your child is not zoned in that district.
But, there has to be a way around that...hmmmm....
I like House 5, very estate looking.
Thanks, Pope...right now, that is our #1 choice, too! But, all are being considered. Just like anything in life, they all seem to have pros & cons.
House #5 is in the best school district, an excellant neighborhood, borders a beautiful park/playground (beyond the .5 acre lot), has *some* updates - needs more, but is move-in ready, and has been on the market long enough we think we may be able to play with the asking price.
The only con we see at this point are the taxes. EEK!
I like house #6.
I like that one, too...good school, taxes are okay, it's definitely move-in ready, but they're asking more than we think it's worth AND it's been on the market for over a year, which tells us they're aren't willing to budge with the price.
Whatever house gets chosen, Sunny, it's for sure.....you'll make it into a home for all

It's time to make an offer.....Play around with them a little bit.
Okay, husband is in PA...and called this morning while driving around.
Looking at the exteriors, it looks like we're down to two houses. #2 and #5 (plus whatever the agent comes up with and forsalebyowners).
Putting an offer on one of the houses tomorrow a.m.! Wish us luck that it's meant to be.
Which one????
Very cool. Just get rid of those shrubs, promise me. LOL
You're the landscape artist... What would you do with it?
I'm looking at that red roof...if it wasn't so new, that would be replaced with brown or something more neutral & the shutters painted to match.
Baby steps... ;D
I'll have to think about it...
I am a big fan of stones and bricks that are natural to the area. And we know I'm a fan of trees...let me think for a bit. Oh, and stone or brick driveways are always a nice touch. LOL
Yes, the driveway is on the list of improvements. Isn't it exciting to pick something apart before it's even purchased!?!? ;D
I'm just excited about have TWICE the house I have now...what to do with all of that extra space? :icon_twisted:
If you're anything like me, you'll fill it. Fast.
I love to take a house and think "How can I make this "Me?"
That's a great way to look at it! And yes, I'm sure it won't take long to fill...lol!
(was typing this before) RE: the exterior, I guess it will also depend on what the landscaping of the other houses huh? According to husband, it's the house to buy...definitely not the 'nicest' on the block. Great for resellability. (is that a word?)
Needless to say, it's an EXCELLANT neighborhood...where I would love for my girls to grow up -- houses are relatively close, but has a deep back lot with trees and shaded areas, perfect for a treehouse or clubhouse.
And a deck that will need expanded or ripped down -- I'm spoiled by the hot tub, that will be on the "to buy" list!

and me! When I bought this house a little over a year ago, there were rooms I didnt even go in every week. Now...I find myself thinking about which side I could add onto!

Oooh and a waterfall (http://www.stonecellarnursery.com/landscaping-images/Stone-Cellar-Ponds_0008.jpg)
and a pergula (http://www.homestead.com/backyardpond/files/p1010021pergula__rev_2_.jpg)
I LOVE that, Daisy! *makes note for husband* And the pergula looks relatively easy to build...for him.
House 5, huh? Looks great... actually is VERY VERY much like the one that we sold in 04. It had about 16 rooms.. our new house has 5... where will I put all that stuff/??? I know... i will send it to you to put in your new rooms. LOL
~DAISY~, I love your ideas! We had a pond with an overflowing barrel at our old home. I think it was part of what sold it so fast.
With all the back yard you'll have, Sunny, then the pergula is an awesome idea!!!
I am a rock lover, too... a rock face on the wall beside the drive would be nice... then then plant perinneals.... something bright and pretty... yellow, purple, and red!
Does Hubby have a camera with him??? I wanna see the insides!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awww....you ladies are getting me SO excited. It actually has a small deck on the back, but it looks sorta useless -- not big enough even for my husband's grill. :-[
But, the glass sliders (which would be nice with french doors instead) come out rather high in the back, so something would need to be built up...not sure how the pergula that Daisy pictured would work.
Camera...uh, yes, Husband took it with him to PA, but LEFT IT IN HIS CAR yesterday when our friend realtor took him to view the house. But, he PROMISED that if we make an offer & it's accepted, he won't come home without more pictures.
It sounds like the inside is a renovator's dream...the house was built in 1977 & hasn't been updated much sine. Look out Brady Bunch, here we come! LOL!
But, we can make it our own this way. Thanks for asking & sharing...sounds like your former home was just as beautiful as your current one!
Sunny, I had to go back and look at #5, It looks lovely and I'm excited about all your ideas so far......Having a ball already aren't you?
Hearing you say, it's a place you would love for the girls to grow up is the main seller here.
When do you know for sure? Are we a shoe in? Did we put in a offer? Can you tell I'm excited for you and the family?

Just heard from my husband...our financing has gone through & now we're going to put a bid on the house -- might know TODAY!
Thank you VERY much for being excited with us!!!
Tick...Tock...Tick...Tock...Tick...Tock...
At this rate, 5:00pm tomrrow will NEVER get here...
*sulking* :icon_evil:
Hang in there, not much longer now.
Thank you, FCM! I was having a moment last night...however, that has passed & we're all bright-eyed & bushy-tailed today!
(and NO comments about that one from the peanut gallery :icon_evil:)
And how are things in your corner of the world, FCM?
Okay...they counter-offered...and we're going to counter their counter-offer.
Give me strength to get thru this.
My corner's doing good, had a couple of interviews this week. The job market is unreal right now, and they do not want to pay for my experince. All the people I have given employment to in my life, never once did I treat a 40ish person as if I were doing them a favor. I always welcomed the experinced person. Made my job easier and loved hearing the different views.
OOPS, didn't mean to sound bitter, guess the hunt is getting to me?
Anyway, hope that bushy tail is jumping for joy at 5pm! 8)
MAJOR VIBES COMING YOUR WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Sunny -- hang in. That's the house buying game. Am hoping good hopes fer ya.
FCM -- don't get discouraged. Sooner or later the doofs will recognize a valuable employee. They just need a wakeup cuff across the back of the head.

Thanks FTW.....LOL, I have at times wanted to give them a good cuff!
<dishes out more positive karma points to all>
Thanks, FTW and FCM! You two are the bestest...keeping me optimistic! My husband just seems so excited about this house & that's important considering he's trading vacation land for snow world.
And FCM, I'm sorry you aren't being appreciated. Show me where they're at & I'll go at 'em for ya!
Thanks Sunshine, but today was I poop day, for my fob search.........So what did we find out about the house?
We got it! Closing date is still up in the air, but no later than November 27th!
Yay!! That is awesome!!!
French doors...ooh yeah!
Thanks, Daisy! ;D
Thanks, Sunny. Now I want a new house. LOL (Seriously, I have got to get out of Indiana before it kills me.)
If you could settle on NW PA, there's about 5 houses for sale on every block, from what I hear...FTW could probably confirm it!
Truly a 'buyer's market'.
OR you could buy MY house in FL...*nudge nudge*...beautiful Lanai & jacuzzi spa conveys!
Tempting...
If you mean the FL home...we're just 45 minutes from Disney...an hour from Tampa & an hour to the Atlantic Ocean...
My heartiest congrats, sunny. Welcome home. ;D ;D ;D
*curtsies to ftw* Thank you, thank you! Now, what time are the cinnamon rolls typically ready? ;D
Whenever you want them.
There IS that Amish store out yonder...just over the hill...we can take turns!
Oh, the food & quaint little places - that's what I miss most about being 'home'.
Do you mean Chupps' store in Springboro?
 Is it still open?
I had a client in Springboro & would stop there on occasion to pick up a plate of cookies for my colleagues! (and I'd eat one, myself)
Just one?
Wow. That's self-control.
Try the homemade bread on Wednesday or Thursday.
I sure will...although, I hope not to be doing in-home case management this time around, so not sure how often I'll make it out to Sprinboro.
A shame. Small distance to go for such good things.
Although there are some good things to be had at the Pampered Palate, also.
Pampered Palate? And where might that be...downtown M'ville?
Yep. Can't remember the street names, but it is on a corner just a block down from the hospital parking lot.
It has coffee, muffins made there, and wraps of various kinds. A trifle expensive, but worth the cost.
I believe the coffee is White Mountain, and they brew several different kinds.
Small eating area and Meadville Tribune to read, if you wish, but most people stop for their morning coffee on the way to work.
They also make sandwiches if you are stopping for lunch.
Ahhh....yes...there's an elementary school on the opposing corner! The things we forget when we go away for 3 years.
They have excellant sandwiches! Thanks for the reminder...maybe we'll cross paths there someday.
So when's the big move, anyway???
That's a GREAT question, Daisy. Everyday we get a little bit closer...but, don't have a definite closing date yet.
So, to be on the safe side -- I am telling everyone that November 27th will be the LATEST. That's the last day our mortgage company has to wrap it up -- but, we have all of our stuff done: the home inspection, homeowner's insurance, appraisal, financing, and title/deed search = all complete.
Thanks so much for asking -- it feels like this all started a lot longer than just 4 weeks ago.
Dang you guys have been busy!! How are you so calm?
Because I'm going home...somehow it's keeping me calm.
Plus my husband pops anxiety pills into me every few hours.
(JUST KIDDING)
So that's what you're calling it now?
"Anxiety pills"? ;D ;D
Seriously, are you guys making any headway through the paper blizzard?
How about the house sale?
Yes, FTW! We are closing next Friday! YEAH! Thanks for asking...
That sets our official "move" for approximately November 17th -- husband needs about 10 days in PA to get everything ready for us to move in. The house has been vacant for a little while & needs cleaned/freshened up. And a LOT of wall paper removal.
As for the FL house -- not even one showing yet. :-\
I stripped our dining room of wallpaper over the fourth of July. It was actually kind of fun. It was neat to just rip and throw stuff; very theraputic!
So, what are you doing from the 3rd-12th? LOL!
That has to be so exciting. A lot of work, but something I wouldn't mind doing. Going home. Hopefully there will be some fall leaves left to crunch through.
well, you find a way to get me out there and I'll strip wallpaper! LOL My savings is depleted except $14, so...

I hope so, too Ms.Mojo...although, I fear it's been so cold & rainy that they're all off the trees and soaked away. But, we'll see on the 19th! That should be the day we pull in with our moving truck!!!

Wow, that's soon. I'll just live vicariously though you I guess. LOL I love California. I feel like I belong here, but I miss certain things about the east coast...seasons...etc. I guess I could move to NoCal and get my seasons, but if I'm going to move again, I'd rather move home I think. At least that's how I feel today. Who knows how I'll feel when I grow up. LOL
Who wants to grow up?!?
I dunno...husband says they got about 4 or 5 inches of snow today...and I got chills! I can't wait to build the first snowman with my girls! :smitten:
It's so hard to believe that I started this thread less than two months ago...and by next Monday we will be in our all freshly painted house!
And husband will be home in a few hours with the dvd video of the house so we don't have to wait a week to see the transformation!
Thanks to everyone for allowing me to share this adventure with you. :smitten:
OOOH Cool! I wish you could post the transformation video...
Me, too, Daisy! But, I think he tried taking some still shots with the video camera...but, I'd have to get them developed with one-hour photo or something.
In a few weeks when I'm back online, I'll gladly post some 'before' and 'after' photos.
Yay!
I am so nosy, can you tell?
And I like to share, can ya tell?!? :smitten:
Yeah, but I love it! I'm the same way!
