Title: VIOLENCE ON T.V.....
Post by: Henry Hawk on January 11, 2007, 02:41:36 PM
Now I have always been one to believe that, parents need to be accountable for their kids and what they watch...also I believe that there is a choice to turn the channel if viewing is not acceptable....

But, should the FCC be involved in how much violence is being spewed across the air waves??

Does Gov have in business in regulating what can and cannot be seen?

I personally believe that Free Enterprise is still the best thing we have going here...If a network is showing what the public wants it will get the sponsers to pay them....if enough people would be more vocal on what is being shown on thier sets and let sponsers and producers know how they feel, these things usually get worked out, without Gov intervention...

I say NO.
The market will bear out what the public wants...
As long as whats being portayed isnt illegal from some other standpoint (like sexual exploitation of minors or something)....I just dont see it...

Story telling has included violence long since before TV or the FCC.  Like you said, be accountable yourself for what type of TV goes on in your house and in front of your kids.

I agree, with Gryphon and IYT. I believe the government has overstepped their boundaries of responsibility when it comes to broadcasting and other media such as books, movies and music.
