Post by: libby on October 16, 2019, 02:37:53 PM
I don't know if I am in or considered a visitor. If in, want to say it will be maybe a month before I can read well enough to participate.  surgery on my left eye will be Nov 20th. I will try to log in more frequently, but until then, I miss y'all

Hello all. I guess I will blame the cataracts not yet removed (my surgery was moved to a later date this month so am stumbling through using my computer and/or cell phone). It was embarrassing to have one of my sisters tell me she got a message from me that was intended for my daughter.

There are some bright spots, like going to the local grocery store and hearing stunningly beautiful classical music coming from somewhere in the fairly large parking lot. Drove around for a while and finally found it: a young man who looked to be in his mid-20s playing a violin. I'd seen him before on a corner near the entrance/exit,with a young woman with a baby. They were beggars, with a sign, but the first time for the music. I had no cash except for a 20 dollar bill and I gave it to him. Yes. He was that good! He was back again yesterday, playing semi-classical and yes, I gave him cash. Ten dollars. He is that good. Yesterday as before there were people like me driving/walking around trying to find the source.

Nice to hear you've discovered something beautiful in this world today. Nicer still to learn you took the time to not only find them, but to show your appreciation for their beautification of the ambiance with their efforts.

:icon_evil: Just finished typing a response when I hit something that caused me to lose it, so will try again.  Locutus, Palehorse, so good to see you here. You guys and all the rest have meant a link to the real world for me while living and working in the D.C. suburbs. of Northern Virginia. I do not exaggerate when I say that.  My cataract surgery has been postponed a couple of weeks at least because of the sudden unexpected death of a family member.  I was talking to the person scheduling my surgery when I got the news.Again, so good to find you're still here.

Well, am doing  a little better -- managed to get in here on the third try.

Thanksgiving was quiet for me -- compared to the days when my sisters and their families and I  and mine drove back to Bluefield and momma's house for her delicious turkey and all the trimmings. She seemed to really enjoy all of us there in her little house, where you could begin to smell the garlic before daylight. She used a lot of that turkey!

Hope all of you had a good day with family and/or friends.

I envy you. My family is spread out all over the place and our mother passed away years ago. I still go back home-  Bluefield WV, but if you drive a few blocks you are in Bluefield VA. My cataract surgery will be some time in January. The craziest things are happening, and the latest so stunning: I was on the phone talking about my surgery when I got the word that a close family member had died -- suddenly  with no warning. So surgery was put off until January. As a book lover and reader from a very young age, I now have a new appreciation for the gift of vision.  Regards and wishes for a great New Year to all of you, my friends here on the ?Zone.  :smitten:
