Title: Exercise and effect on the brain
Post by: libby on July 14, 2019, 03:39:57 PM
I was looking through a book by Dr. Andrew Weil  and came across an old newspaper clipping that impressed me when I first read it and still does.

"Dear Readers: The Sept. 3, 1981 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine contains a report from the Harvard Medical School and several other Boston facilities indicating that exercise increases blood levels of endorphins -- chemicals in the brain similar to opiates."

As I have pointed out several times there is increasing evidence, including this latest report, that regular exercise may indeed increase the levels of these "feeling good" chemicals in the brain.
This might explain why people who exercise regularly tend to feel better -- and why they show "withdrawal depression" when they stop exercising. We have a lot more to learn about this phenomenon.

Interesting.  Do you ever exercise your brain as well as your body?  This is a good site to do just that for free.  It'll track your progress for you, and you get 3 free brain exercises per day.

I've used them before and their daily puzzles are a good mental workout.

Interesting. I'll check It out. The subject fascinates me. Don't I don't know if I wrote here or not, but quite a few years ago I attended a Mind Control Seminar that changed my life.

My dear mom once said to me, Libby, don't stay alone and think too much. You'll get real funny.
