Title: We lived in Indianapolis from 1986 to 1996, I think it was

We moved up to Anderson because it was a smaller town and because our neighborhood in Indy was getting to be a more rental area with more crime cropping up.  It was a product of the "developers" (isn't that code for the rich) moving the poverty out of downtown so they could make high class homes there for the yuppy crowd.

Anyway, in about the first 6 weeks of school, a high school kid killed an 80 year old women in a trailer park. The kid went to the same school as my children.  My daughter, who, along with her brother thought that the small town was a disaster and who missed their "big city" friends, came home and in disgust said to me.  "Sure, mom, move us from Indy where there are murders in the city to Anderson where we go to school with the murderers."  Kinda hit me in the chest.....
