One of my fb friends who was hit on his motorcycle was in the next bed when they brought him in.  :'(  Jon wasn't badly injured since he was only going about 17 mph when a Jeep came flying out of a parking spot and he hit it.

The 17 year old died as a result of his wound. Looking like an accidental shooting. . .

2 shootings in Anderson this morning.

1st one was a domestic dispute just after 1:00am and the 2nd one is believed to have been a drug deal gone bad just before 4am this morning. Both are considered homicides. . . :spooked:

Dangerous Travel Conditions and Weather Advisory
The Madison County Emergency Management & Office of Homeland Security Agency has issued a weather advisory to the citizens of Madison County for Saturday 6:00 PM thru Sunday 12:00 PM.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for ice accumulation of a tenth to two tenths of an inch and the potential of snow accumulations.  Winds are expected to gust between 25 to 30 MPH which will add to the hazardous conditions tonight.  Temperatures have warmed up above freezing today causing the ice on the roadways to melt.  As temperatures are starting to drop, the roads will become slick again ahead of additional freezing precipitation and snow.

On Friday night, Madison County Law Enforcement agencies responded to just under 200 calls for service including accidents and slide offs.  The Madison County Communications Center received a higher than average number of 911 calls, including a peak of 59 911 calls during the 11:00 PM hour.

Local communities should take measures now to prepare for significant icing, and snow accumulations over night.

Madison County is currently under a Travel Advisory which is the lowest level advisory and means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of the weather and hazardous road conditions.  County officials will monitor the road conditions and adjust the travel advisory if necessary.

Just took a walk outside and it is indeed an ice storm in progress.

Driveway is a sheet of ice, as are the roads and sidewalks. And it is supposed to do this for at least 3-4 more hours before it changes over to snow. (Which will also be ice for some period of time).

Here we go again. Madison County is a sheet of ice after being pelted with freezing rain overnight.

I took the pup out and he fell on his ass and had a hard time getting up. The roads look like they are just as bad if not worse.

STAY HOME unless you have to be out. A wise person would try to delay any necessary travel until late morning.

I did EXACTLY that.....I did not leave for work until around 7:30 and the roads were in great shape....Normally, I leave around 6 or 6:30.

Apparently it was slick on the roads again this morning.  I must have a wonderful new car, because I didn't feel any slippery at all.  Of course I'm only 3 minutes from work....I pull out on 32, turn on main street and drive 1 1/2 blocks and I'm there.  I didn't have time to notice any slick spots.  My co-workers on the other hand were coming from Alexandria and both of them were scared to death and had to pull over until traffic lightened up.  I say...Chickens!! LOL

It is pretty, Libby, but then you need to go out and clean off the car and shovel.  Maybe if I had someone do that for me I wouldn't mind as much!

I love snow. And we get none of it. . .

I hate basketball - and live in the basketball capital of the planet. . .

I moved from Chicago after decades of hockey and baseball disappointment - both baseball teams win the world series and the hockey team wins multiple Stanley Cup Championships.

I am a curse!

Don't forget the White Sox.  8)

I doubt the Bears achieve another championship in my lifetime. I forget which writer it was that criticized the McCasky family saying they, "throw nickels around as if they were manhole covers", but he was not wrong. Among the cheapest professional sporting team owners in the country; if not THE cheapest. However, kicking their QB to the curb is a good first step, but I highly doubt they'll pony up the $$ necessary to bring another championship team to the Windy. . .

He wouldn't be making so much noise if he didn't have immunity from prosecution himself.
