Title: Why isn't the media all over this?
Post by: me on September 15, 2016, 12:59:59 AM
The way these people are being treated by our government is sad.

You're talking about 2%* or less of the total population. Your chosen political persuasion says they don't count unless they own more than 75 % of the wealth; which they don't. And the 1% that does owns the media so. . .  :roll eyes:

Look into the mirror and bitch at yourself, for it is your masters that are responsible today for their plight.

*- Less than 1% if you exclude Alaskan Natives.

And you doubt the power of big oil in this country?

Heck that hasn't even made Facebook amazingly enough. Neither my daughter or grandson has said anything about knowing about the one in Tn. My daughter lives not far from Knoxville and my grandson and his family live near Nashville. Hubby has a neice in South Carolina as well and she hasn't said anything. His neice won't be happy if gas prices raise too much since she has a photography business and travels in a 4 state area to do shoots.

Think the government doesn't control what we are allowed to view on fb and what's shown on the news think again. A Native American friend had been sharing news about what was happening in N D with the pipeline and I didn't see anything about it yesterday in my feed which was strange. My ex's grandaughter posted that she had been following it on twitter and that they were using tear gas against the Natives, arresting them, and confiscating cameras and such and her twitter account went down, their excuse suspicious activity and she needed to change her pw to get back in which she was unable to do. Then I really started wondering what was going on since I had seen nothing from my friend. Well, she posted this morning that no one was allowed to post or share anything about the happenings there. Sharing and posting have so far returned to normal this morning. What is happening there is really sad.

I have a friend that has been posting about that continuously.  In fact, she posted something about the pipeline two hours ago.  I don't know why your friend said no one was allowed to post or share anything, my friend certainly has been and still is.  I don't think the government is controlling what we see on FB.

If it was put on Youtube on Wednesday, then it can be shared the same day.  Hence, my friend shared it the same day.  Really, this isn't rocket science.

I know that but fb was blocking anything sent about the pipeline. Youtube and fb are two seperate things. Do not call my friend a liar if she couldn't share it she couldn't share it period. Did you not hear the guy doing the video say fb had him blocked? My friend is full blooded Native American and had been sharing a lot of those things so she may have already been tagged to block. My sharing privileges were evidentely cut off too because I couldn't share anything at all and, in fact made a post about it that night.

It is amazing because as I stated I have seen the videos that others had posted on my Facebook of the pipeline and there was no.blocking. Facebook is more concerned over porn than they are this.  The pipeline videos had been shared and sent to me and they weren't blocked. I did a pipeline protests search on Facebook and what pops up, videos and articles of the Native American protests and I can watch those. Anyone can.

First, FB was obviously not blocking it if our friends could post about it. Locutus addressed this issue.

Second, no one called your friend a liar.  Please go back and show me where any of us said this.

You were insinuating as much. If it was a glitch it was effecting twitter at the same time. All I know is she could share and receive other things but nothing about what was going on at that time so it sure was a strange glitch to say the least. She has friends there and they couldn't send/share photos or anything with her or others via fb.

Even though this was laid to rest by former President Obama, the new guy just revived it and the Keystone Project and says both will be built:

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed executive actions to advance approval of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access oil pipelines.

The decision to advance the pipelines cast aside efforts by President Barack Obama's administration to block construction of the two pipelines, while making good on one of Trump's campaign promises.
As he signed the documents Tuesday in the Oval Office, Trump also vowed to "renegotiate some of the terms" of the Keystone bill and said he would then seek to "get that pipeline built."
Trump also issued executive actions declaring oil pipelines constructed in the US should be built with US materials, streamlining the regulatory process for pipeline construction and shortening the environmental review process.
Trump during his campaign said he would streamline the approval of the Keystone XL pipeline, which was stalled for years in the Obama administration until Obama denied approval for the pipeline's construction altogether in November 2015.
And Trump said for the first time in December that he supported construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, which stalled last year amid protests opposing its construction on Native American lands. The Obama administration denied the company a permit it needed to complete the pipeline late last year.

What I find odd is one of my Native American fb friends who was all over this before now has mixed emotions about it and sees some good in it. The Native American fb friend who is also a friend offline hasn't posted anything as yet because she just got out of the hospital with serious heart issues. My beef with things had more to do with what was being done to the people than the pipeline itsself. If the bullets, rubber or real, the water spraying, and the in general misstreatment starts again you can bet I'll be all over it.

So you've no concerns what-so-ever surrounding the fact this pipeline will go over one of the largest underground aquifers in the country? You know, the one that supplies the water for the crops and livestock grown throughout that entire section of the country. The section responsible for the lion's share of beef, grain, and vegetables grown in this country?

You still doubt the power big oil wields in this nation?

They are going to ram it right down the throats of everyone living in that part of the country, and everyone living in this country by proxy. The Raging Cheeto just handed them an executive order to do so.

Canada is right at this moment dealing with environmental issues over leaks on their side of the border. . .

And it isn't a matter of if it will leak, it's a matter of when.  They always leak.

I think more astute title to this topic given current events, would be: Why isn't "me" all over this?  :icon_twisted:
