QuoteMINNEAPOLIS (The Borowitz Report)—Many Americans are tired of explaining things to idiots, particularly when the things in question are so painfully obvious, a new poll indicates.

I am sometimes frustrated that the science some people refuse to accept provides them the technology to spread their ignorance so easily.

And that people rail against government "interference" when that very "interference" saves their lives and property.
"Lower taxes + less government = more freedom!" Unless firefighters just saved your house.

THIS is a great point of this threads title....like explaining why lower taxes + less government = more freedom. It doesn't mean getting rid of firemen. It means getting rid of the red tape and half the BS in Washington, on a federal level.
It has absolutely nothing to do with less firemen or less cops.

"HAH!"(TM)
That's exactly what it means because you RW idjits don't want to cut expenditures from things like the military - which the last I recall took up over half of .gov spending - or from corporate welfare and other corrupt bilking of the the American people.
Therefore, when it comes down to spending cuts, infrastructure, safety, education and all other sorts of spending which supports society it what you cut.
So don't sit there and BS us that's not the end result of your corruption and stupidity.

"Prove it!"(TM)
You can't, and that's just your go to crap because you haven't the facts or the brains to back that up.

That is always your BS response when you got nothing and KNOW I am right about something...

One more "Prove it!"(TM).
I gave you truth, and you had no cogent response. You have nothing with which to argue my points. That's what happens when you rely on something being 'true' just 'cause you thunk it.

Is it your position that people who attend college are somehow..."brighter" than those who never went to college? I know a whole bunch of people who went to college who have jobs make far less than I do....and are not contributing to our society in any good fashion.

It is my position that people that went to college aren't necessarily brighter than those that didn't, but they're certainly more educated.

Big deal, if someone is more educated in History lets say, does that make them more qualified to make common sense judgement?
That is ME's point. Sometimes you act as if those more educated people are somehow "better" than those who may have never attended college.
the bottom line for me is.........I really don't care..........not sure why I even got involved in the pointless discussion....
I'm bowing out.....

No, her point, and the one you seem to be in agreement with is that a person is either better educated or has more common sense...never both. It is entirely possible for a person to simultaneously be more intelligent, better educated and have more common sense than someone else. I am a perfect example of that.

The "never both" point was one I was going to make myself, but I've been on the iPhone all afternoon.
BTW, I think we're both great examples of that.

Okay, you caused me to have some gag reflex with that last statement.....
I never said it couldn't be both.........I work with a few that fit both.
btw, I never graduated college, but have been to numerous classes over the years, and still attend them on a somewhat regular basis.

Would you please explain the term more educated. Not being brighter and more educated seems to be a oxymoron statement.
'Common sense' is the mantric lie the stupid and uneducated tell themselves to assuage the guilt over their genetic, inquisitory, and educational work ethic failures.
Usually, the dimwits shouting about it don't possess it and don't even have a clue as to what it is.

Yes, to a certain extent, since it at least shows a modicum of inquisitiveness which is a sign of an intelligent mind.
Monetary recompense does not essentially equate to intelligence. In fact, in the capitalist system it tends to emphasize far baser human traits and pathology - in a corrupt system, those most corrupt florish.

Yes, and far more likely, because a knowledge of history should lead to not repeating a mistake - which would be showing common sense.
Something we need to remember - half the people in this country have sub-100 IQs, and it is estimated approximately 25% of the people have mental health issues.
You can extrapolate from there the number of stupid people and the possible real amount of 'common sense' in this country.
You also know, You can make things fool proof, but you can't make anything idiot proof. I guess that is we have the Republican Party. To provide the Idiots. :haha:
