Title: Will the adults in the room please stand up!
Post by: Y on September 10, 2015, 04:49:35 PM
I've been thinking - I know, I know, always a dangerous prospect   - but it's really time for the adults in this country to stop, stand up, and take the time and put all these sub 100 IQ children to bed and stop them from continually mucking up government, society, and anything else they keep putting their little grubby paws on.

They range from under-educated to uneducated to completely illiterate and superstitious, and act impulsively on their prejudices, emotions, hatreds, and superstitions.  It's no way to run a government or a society.  With the unfortunate aspect of them breeding exponentially, the adults really need to take a stand here and start demanding that we adults run the asylum.

The problem is worse than your statement assumes; they outnumber us already in a 'democracy'. . .

If your idea is someone with a college education that doesn't necessarily mean they have a high IQ. I know someone who didn't get past the 3rd grade and he is extremely intellegent but due to circumstances he wasn't able to continue his education any further than that. He has done quite well for himself and ended up owning his own business, has retired now and is very well off. If it is just the IQ you are referring too no matter what the education level you should also include common sense as a requirement because I've seen supposedly smart people who couldn't pour sand out of a boot with the directions on the heel.

I know people with a high degree of education that are dumber than a box of hammers. I also know those with less than a high school education that are intelligent and possess a high IQ.

So I get the IQ question, but when you start dragging out common sense into a dialog about IQ it removes all credibility to your argument. . .

Why?
QuoteFull Definition of COMMON SENSE
:  sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts
A high IQ does not necessarily give a person the ability to do that

"Whoosh"

"Common sense" has been reduced to a conservative talking point of little to no real meaning in this day and age. (Hence the loss of credibility).

Conservatives drag out that phrase within almost each and every single media moment they can generate. The phrase is now nothing more than "Maggie's Drawers"; a signal of a clear loss of direction and application to the subject matter in question.

They've spread that phrase like horse manure, and it's everywhere. . .

And just how is it that you can rationalize that all conservatives have a lower IQ than libs or progressives? Are you not repeating a lib talking point?

No one said that...but...since you brought the subject up:

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/millennial-media/201304/do-racism-conservatism-and-low-iq-go-hand-in-hand

Hodson and Busseri (2012) found in a correlational study that lower intelligence in childhood is predictive of greater racism in adulthood, with this effect being mediated (partially explained) through conservative ideology. They also found poor abstract reasoning skills were related to homophobic attitudes which was mediated through authoritarianism and low levels of intergroup contact.

What this study and those before it suggest is not necessarily that all liberals are geniuses and all conservatives are ignorant. Rather, it makes conclusions based off of averages of groups. The idea is that for those who lack a cognitive ability to grasp complexities of our world, strict-right wing ideologies may be more appealing. Dr. Brian Nosek explained it for the Huffington Post as follows, "ideologies get rid of the messiness and impose a simple solution. So, it may not be surprising that people with less cognitive capacity will be attracted to simplifying ideologies."

Surely you can't compare a highly respected, award-winning magazine currently endorsed by the National Board for Certified Counselors to William Briggs??????!!!!!!

I do believe he explained how Hodson and Busseri arrived at that conclusion in case you didn't read it.
