It is hard to tell, but when the World Health Organization is calling the Ebola outbreak "the most severe, acute health emergency seen in modern times"....another reason we need to close off our borders.

Who knows how many from Mexico that could have been in Africa that could easily walk across our borders....

Troll, I agree, I think the media is playing this for all it is worth....but....

another reason as to why we need effective leadership....

I think our military should weaponize it.  It is worse that VX and Sarin nerve gas.  One drop and  you have Ebola that can be  transferred person to person. Just like Small Pox we gave the Indians through blankets.

Weaponize it and spread in all over China and any other country that wants to harm us.  With the poor health care and billions of people, we sure could lower the population of China big time.  I think ISIS needs a whole bunch of it.  Kill the Muslim bastards.

My point is that, if you would actually take the time to find out what is in those bills, you would understand that most are nothing more than politically symbolic  drivel and wouldn't be using them as an example of what a stellar job your dick smokers in Washington are doing.

You mean the bill like closing our boarders? or

America's Small Business Tax Relief Act of 2014

or a

Comprehensive jobs bill

or a

Immigration reform bill

or a

Energy Bill that would help us become independent from foreign oil.

The fact is, I HAVE INDEED looked at many of the bills that Reid refuses to bring to a vote.

Give me an example of something he's accomplished other than the disastrous healthcare bill which he didn't actually accomplish, it was Pelosi and Reid using strong arm tactics. For that matter he neither wrote it or did he even know what was actually in it he was just told it would make him a great man if he got it passed.  He then tacked his name to it and proceeded to make sure everyone was called racist who disagreed with it.

So you're saying the economy is great now and our purchasing power is as good as or better than it was and there's no inflation plus there are more people working and unemployment isn't a problem now?  What world are you living in anyway?

It's doing very well, actually.

Quote...and our purchasing power is as good as or better than it was...

That's a side effect of lowering taxes without cutting spending as you conservatives are so fond of doing...it devalues the currency.

Unemployment is under 6%.  I live in the real, working world...unlike you.

According to Forbes (http://www.forbes.com/sites/louisefron/2014/08/20/tackling-the-real-unemployment-rate-12-6/):

Despite the significant decrease in the official U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) unemployment rate, the real unemployment rate is over double that at 12.6%. This number reflects the government's "U-6" report, which accounts for the full unemployment picture including those "marginally attached to the labor force," plus those "employed part time for economic reasons."

Simply doing nothing is not going to help the cause.  British Airways, Air France and Kenya Airways have stopped flights to and fro infected countries.  I realize it isn't an easy task, No, nobody is suggesting we ground all air travel.........do you have any idea how ridiculous YOU sound?....but as the Leader of this Nation, other countries look for our leadership.....we can encourage other Nations to step up, set up homeland security in these regions to screen travelers. Put forth the effort that we actually give a shit...rather than playing golf and fund raising in hollywood.

I do not HATE Obama.  I do think he is not a good leader.  Race has nothing to do with that.  I would vote for a number of folks who are not white, but as long as they lean conservative.   Hell, don't like most of the liberals in congress, and they are white.  So enough already with your lame excuse.

"I DO NOT HATE OBAMA"  What a damn load of bullshit out of your lying mouth.  :liar2: :liar2: :liar2:  You hate all Democrats, but you don't hate them as much as I hate all of you god damn Republican.  You people are just big piles of nasty shit.  Damn I hate you stupid people.    :@#%&: :dam: :trustme: :behead:

Been to the grocery store lately Ex?  Oh wait, I forgot they aren't counting food in with inflation that's somewhere under the rug with the people who no longer count in the unemployed stats 'cause they are no longer eligible for benefits or the under employed who just don't get enough hours.  Of course food sales haven't slowed much because there are more people on food stamps so they can at least eat, not good but they can still eat at least.

Been to the grocery store lately Ex?

From the U.S. Department of Labor: (http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/surveymost?ap)

Bread, white: Jan., 2004: $0.946; Jan., 2009: $1.381; Jan., 2014: $1.365.

Eggs, Grade A, doz.: Jan., 2004: $1.573; Jan., 2009: $1.850; Jan., 2014: $2.008.

Milk, fresh, whole, gal.: Jan., 2004: $2.879; Jan., 2009: $3.575; Jan., 2014: $3.552.

Looks to me like all of these commodities went up significantly in price during Bush's last 5 years in office and two out of 3 of them actually cost less at the beginning of this year than they did when Obama took office.  Sorry to let facts get in the way of your narrative.

Wow we're pullin' out stats again I see.  Now if you actually pay attention to what you're buying, actual, factual stats, you'll notice meat has gone up significantly, quantity of product in containers has been reduced, liquid is now part of the weight in can goods like veggies, and that is a form of price increase without registering as such.  Quit looking so much at stats put out by the administration and pay attention to real life.

QuoteNow if you actually pay attention to what you're buying, actual, factual stats, you'll notice meat has gone up significantly...

Meat has gone up significantly but not due to any factors that the POTUS could reasonably be expected to control.  I know how you hate facts and figures so you probably missed it but we had a severe drought here in the U.S. a couple of years ago (a by-product of the global warming that you claim doesn't exist) that decimated corn crops.  Here's another shocking piece of information for you...cows, pigs and other livestock eat...you guessed it...corn!  Because of the scarcity of corn, the price for feeding livestock increased dramatically causing ranchers to send their stock to slaughter rather than feed it.  I'm sure you're not aware of it but the amount of time it takes to grow most livestock is measured in years, not weeks or months.  It's simple supply and demand...less available meat means higher prices.

In your world, I'm sure this is Obama's fault for not doing the African Muslim rain dance of his people to prevent the drought in the first place.

Quote...quantity of product in containers has been reduced, liquid is now part of the weight in can goods like veggies, and that is a form of price increase without registering as such.

Which is precisely why it is important to compare commodities whose quantities are fixed.  A loaf of bread is a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs is a dozen eggs and a gallon of milk is a gallon of milk.

These things have all happened in the past and didn't affect prices to this extent or for more than a year.  You keep right on livin' in your stat created fantasy world but you're in for a rude awakening.

Please tell us when?  The drought was in 2012 which means that it would have been at least the harvest season in 2013 before corn feed supplies could be replenished.  The gestation period for cattle is 283 days.  How long do you think it takes to grow a steer?

By definition, statistics are reality; it is you living in a fantasy...or is it dementia?

Prices are increasing this year in case you hadn't noticed.  In the past the prices have gone up slightly the same year and the year after but stabilized in the 3rd year or gone back down.  Remember the coffee drought back in the 70's?  Probably not but I think I've been through this more times than you which is why it's harder to fool most of the older generation and why this administration is working harder on the younger people and trying to convince them we don't know what we're talking about.

Look, as part of your doom and gloom diatribe against this administration, you tried to make the case that groceries are significantly more expensive now and intimated that it was somehow Obama's fault.  I provided you with absolute evidence that that was a lie by providing statistical data for three of the most common staple food items.  That data showed that the prices for all three increased substantially during the previous administration's final 5 years in office and that two of the three had actually decreased during the first five years of this administration with the third increasing only moderately.  First you tried to pretend that the statistics weren't valid now you're trying to pretend that there is some hidden meaning or agenda that only you can see because you have mad, mystical powers that the rest of the population doesn't share.

I think you're a whack job.

Being older doesn't magically make you smarter or wiser; what it makes you is senile.

What it shows is you think you're immune to the bad things in the world and I realize I'm not and prepare.  Now don't confuse being prepared with worrying about it or being in a panic, there is a difference.  Hate to tell you this Ex but if things go sour, and I hope they don't, you may find yourself needing to depend on some of these people you spend so much time putting down for your very survival and all your "financial preparation" will do you do good at all.  Well, burning paper will keep you warm for a bit though.

Along with the knowledge to "make" bullets, cook the food, what plants around you are safe to eat or be used as first aid remedies.  Having what you need, in case you have to be on the move, contained and light weight.  There is indeed a lot to it including always having a "plan B".

In a doomsday scenario, there is one single factor which trumps all others in separating the survivors from those who will not: the ability and willingness to use violence.
