Title: THIS Needs Fixing!
Post by: Palehorse on September 17, 2014, 09:04:46 PM
I know this is a Faux News article, but the issue needs correcting!

. . .Officials with ICADV say the state wants to slash $1.25 million from $3.5 million earmarked for domestic violence programs. But officials with the ICJI say that's not technically the case. . .

These are funds that cannot and should not be cut, but rather need increasing instead. Domestic violence is no joke, and I have a solution:

The NFL has a VERY serious public relations issue right now in this country that is specifically connected to this very issue.

Taxpayers across this country have been feeding the coffers of the league owners for decades, as well as these of the league itself; a not for profit corporation. We've even paid, or are paying, for their stadiums. And it's time to give back in my opinion.

Fans and taxpayers need to demand that the league itself, as well as every single team within it, donate substantial sums of money to support these programs across the country; not just this year, but every damned year until their respective stadiums are no longer a tax burden upon the communities within which they exist.

We should band together and make this happen. It's way past time that they start giving back!

I like your solution, but it seems like the NFL should not actually responsible for the actions of a very, very few players.  I think it is a great PR move to follow up on the plan you just gave.  If we want to get serious about such action, lets start with the NBA!

I just read where there is a bill called the "Booker Bill" by a New Jersey Senator that would strip this exemption and would generate over a $100 million in revenue that would THEN be earmarked for the victims of domestic abuse.
