 Former governor Bob O'Donnell (R) and his wife have just been found guilty of multiple counts of corruption for accepting gifts, money, "loans," vacations, other special privileges from rich businessman Jonny Williams. The governor was offered a plea deal for one count on the list of 14 but turned it down. As a result, his life and that of his family became a nightmare of humiliation as details of their personal lives, especially their financial problems, were related day after day in a trial that seemed like it would never end.
I have been following this story fairly closely, being a Virginia native. Talk about sleazy!
This is a sad event for Virginia. Never in Virginia's history has a governor been even indicted, much less convicted of a crime.
So much for his presidential aspirations.

A relatively light sentence of 2 years in the slammer was handed down. He was just sentenced. Of course, he has an appeal pending and there's a motion to allow him to remain free pending the outcome of the appeal.

I heard that he will end up doing 5 years community service.......and that will be it.
I don't know how that's going to be possible. He was just sentenced to two years in prison and two years of supervised release after that. He has to surrender on February 9th.

Ah! There you go. That was before the actual sentencing.
