Not that I go there, but the Mounds Mall has never garnered much of a crowd since I've been aware of its existence. Now they're gaining some notoriety by posting signs at the entrances that instruct patrons to lower their hoodie upon entrance. And it has hit local network news stories so far.
Now, don't get me wrong, I get why any public or private venue would ask patrons to do this, but the fact is most don't. About the furthest I've seen any business go are the "No shoes, no shirt, no service" and "No Firearms" signs, and I think the general public has grown accustomed to such. But this hoodie thing?
That Mall doesn't have diddly squat surrounding mainstream offerings for purchase, and it is typically perused by blue hairs and thugs.
My guess is there will be less of both around after this sign thing.
Now that I think of it, that place will be at the bottom of a lake in a few years anyway. . .
Last time I was in there was when they had the craft thing at Christmas 'cause a couple of friends had booths there and I went to see them. I did take mom to see George Smith broadcast his Wed show one time last summer but other than that we don't go to the mall at all.
I took my kids to a movie there not too long ago and then we went to Garfields to eat. Not a bad place to eat if you are looking for something different. The theatre was clean. The whole place was clean, just that there was NOTHING in there worth looking at. As PH said, there were blue hairs and kids with their pants down past their buttcracks walking around, but as far as movie and a dinner..........it was ok.
It was pretty busy at Christmas the last few years. I worked selling coupon books for Carsons for an organization I belonged to before their sale several times. The last time I worked a couple young men in winter coats and hoodies ran out the front door with shoes they hadn't paid for. The alarm went off and another customer and I got the make of car and license plate number. The cops came but I never heard if they caught them. I had just finished my turn selling and my husband was waiting on me in the car when he saw the guys run out. He said he thought I hope Anne didn't see that and the next thing he knew I came running out the door after them. He wasn't a happy camper. :)
It's going to end up at the bottom of the new reservoir anyway. . .
